Travelling in Tokyo/Kyoto with a tight schedule

by joiwatani

Wow, looks like you have a very tight schedule. There are many things to see in Tokyo also if you have tight schedule. If I were you, I would sleep during my flight so when it's time for me to get out from the plane, I am already fully recovered and start touring right away. Since you are arriving on July 17 at 3:00 pm, you might like to book your train right away to Kyoto so you can arrive there just right on time to spend the night in Kyoto.July 17- Tokyo-Kyoto - Take a train ride to Kyoto. Arrive in Kyoto. Just refresh, eat out at a local restaurant, have a good night sleep to fully recover from your flight and train ride then go visit the temples the next day at 7:00 am. Make sure to book your train and your hotels in Kyoto right now so you won't be spending time booking when you get there because you do have a tight schedule...July 18 - 7:00 am - Have breakfast early so you are out...

Tokyo | Day trip to Fuji San and Hakone

by chibi_fr

If you're not a climber, you can book a day trip to see the Fuji San and Hakone. You will meet your guide (japanese speaking english) and the rest of your group in Tokyo and then a bus will drive you to different places around Mount Fuji. I've book my trip on internet (Octopus Travel) and was very happy with it. We had a stop for lunch (which was included in the price). We've first been to Fuji san (but that day was cloudy so not that nice), then we've visited Hakone (we took a ropeway) where we eat strange eggs ^_^ and then we ended with a short cruise on the lake Ashi.

Tokyo | Odaiba | Ooedo Onsen Monogatari

by chibi_fr

Onsens (hot sping) are very popular in Japan. There are traditionnal and modern onsen.Ooedo Onsen Monogatari is a modern one situated in Daiba district. You have to try onsen if you go to Japan !! The only thing is to accept to be naked with other people (female and males are, of course, separated in 2 different baths). But, trust me, japanese people are used to onsen and as occidental female, I've felt quickly comfortable. My husband and I used to spent like 30mn in our onsen and then, we went to one of the restaurants, having some drinks and something to eat.It is very relaxing after a day of walk in Tokyo !!

Otowa-no-taki, Kyoto

by hopang

An interesting and last part of the tour to Kiyomizu Temple Complex is the Sound of the Feathers Waterfall known as Otowa-no-taki in Japanese. This is regarded as one of the ten most famous pure water sites in Japan. This is a favourite place for local and foreign tourists to drink water from the sacred fall not because we are thirsty but because by drinking the sacred water, it will bring the visitor good health and good fortune! Please queue up and take the cup and have your share of the sacred water. Many visitors drink the water just to have their photographs taken!

Sanju-no-to, Kyoto

by hopang

Sanju-no-to is located directly behind Sai-mon and forms part of the Kiyomizu Temple Complex in Kyoto. It is a three storied pagoda which is the tallest three storied pagoda in Japan. Sanju-no-to was erected in 1143. It is undoubtedly a landmark at the complex as well as in Kyoto. The pagoda was repainted in 1987 with bright colours. The colour is typical of a Buddhist temple which reflects the architectural styles of the Chinese that came to Japan together with Buddhism.

Nandai-mon Gate (also known as The Great South Gate) is located on the southern section of Todaiji Temple in Nara. It is actually the front gate to the temple. The temple has eight pillars and was made of wood, one of the best preserved wooden structure in Nara. This structure was a reconstruction of the original which was destroyed in the fire in 1435. The present structure was erected in 1438.

Nara Park, Nara

Nara Park is located at the foot of Mount Wakakusa in the city of Nara. It was founded in 1880 and is today managed by Nara Prefecture. The park covers a total area of approximately 500 hectares. It is the largest park in Nara. It has lovely scenery as depicted in the photo on the right.Nara Park is home to approximately 1,200 sika deers. They are allowed to roam freely in the park. We had seen local and foreign tourists feeding the deers in the park. We are not sure whether it is a good idea! It is also home to Todaiji Temple and Nara National Museum. The park is a popular tourist attraction. Don't miss Nara Park when you visit Nara Daibutsu nearby.
