This shop sells only one thing, fresh roasted chestnuts. How it has been able to stay in business so long is a mystery to me, but it has been a fixture in Utsunomiya for a very long time.

This is a nice little bakery in the neighborhood. This photo was taken at 7:30am which explains why there are so few customers. Usually this bakery is full of people trying to buy the delicious bread, cakes, cookies, sandwiches, etc. as fast as they can.

We are especially fond of the scones. The scones remind me a great deal of my mother's homemade biscuits when I was a child.

Prices are very reasonable. They range from as little as 50yen to several thousand yen for a special order cake. Most items go for between 100 and 200 yen.

Tobu is a major department store chain in Japan. Occasionally there are special festivals. This one is a Hokkaido festival. Food and other things from Hokkaido are sold on the 5th floor in the festival area.

Hokkaido specialties such as crab, scallops, salmon, miso-ramen. Of course going to Hokkaido in person would be better but this is the next best thing.

It's not cheap.
