On the friendship festival day, I had lunch in a diner close to #5 gate of Yokota Base. Inside the restaurant is somewhat like a typical American diner. I ordered Tartare Fish Burger set 900 yen. The diner also sells some items such as T-shrts and so on.

After getting off from #5 gate of Yokota Air Base, walk along route #16 southward toward Haijima station. About five minutes walk you will find a Demode Diner. From there, turn right to the narrow winding road,...

  • Yokota Base Shrine?

In Yokota Base, I found a nice place with torii gate and garden. Unfortunately, the festival visitors are not allowed to enter. It seems to be a guest house for VIPs perhaps. It is heavily guarded. Only outside photo is allowed.

  • Minecart Train(Torokko Ressha)

Yokota Base is very huge. So there is a transportation service by minecart-style train during Friendship Festival. How they call it varies with each train. One train service call it YOKOTA SEN(Yokota Line) while the other service call it CHICA CHICA CHOO CHOO. Either way it is nothing short of fun ride as you might see in amusement parks. Train fee...

On August 18th and 19th, 2012. Yokota Air Base held an annual friendship festival. Yokota Air-Base Japanese-American Friendship Festival is held at Yokota Base in Fussa annually around mid to late August.
