Day Trip out of Tokyo, Tokyo
Favorite thing: On my first visit I didnt have chance to visit Disneyland. So for 2nd visit, I took my kids to Disneyland and they love it!. So many things to do there. A lot of Disney characters, show, Disney Sea, Disney wolds and etc. You can get half price if you're a student. Sorry I dont remember how much I pay per entry.
Ticket needed for Sanrio Theme Park located in Tama City, Tokyo. This theme park featured the famous Hello Kitty & other Sanrio merchandise characters.
I find that the ticket is a little pricey, as compare the Disneyland which is more worthwhile.
Sanrio Puroland Tickets Information
When you visit Sanrio Puroland, there are very scenic views along your train ride. Hop on the express training first and change into locomotive mode when it's nearly to the city where Sanrio Puroland located.

Some of those who are into Japanese anime (animation movie) may know the name of a movie production Studio Ghibli.
They have a museum of their own, never be like Disney Land though.
It's a good excursion for those Japanese anime freaks and children. The movie character Totoro will be at the reception, you can ride on the Cat Bus and you will be in the nice art in the chic cozy house like building.
It's in the site of Inokashira Park in Mitaka-shi. See their official web site (Japanese only).
There are few restrooms with changing tables when you go to a local restaurant or shop. Usually you will have to find a place like in the corner on a tatami or inconspicuos place
Also according to my husband, not many men's restrooms have changing tables....what a surprise...
Sometimes, the handicapped restroom allows for Diaper changing, and that is a relief for any parent.
If you happen to drop by this wonderland, my advice is do bring lots of water!..you need to walk most of the time. Check out for the sign 'FP' - fast past where you can actually get a advance pass for a ride witout wasting time on the long queue specially on weekends.
Fondest memory: Check out the time schedule for the showcase and firework & parade! Don't miss it.
I highly recommend working with Sunrise Tours. We were reluctant to be on our own in Japan because of the language barrier and so, for the first time ever, booked ourselves on a 7 day tour. We choose the Historical Japan tour because it fit our interests and time frame, and it was perfect. Every tour guide was at least good and most were excellent. The company is incredibly well organized, to the point of having someone meet us (only) at Narita to put us on the express bus to our hotel and escort us (again alone) to our train to Osaka airport on the last day.
Fondest memory: One of the things we liked best is that each segment of the 7 days was separate. Most days we were in a group of only 8-12. Only once did we spend a whole day with a busload of people. Each day the group was different (except for two wonderful Canadian couples) so we never had that awful feeling of being part of a big tour group.
All of the guides went above and beyond what was expected, and each day was very well organized. WE didn't have a single complaint.

A very popular tourist spot combining natural beauty and history. Set in a lush cryptomeria forest, the magnificent Toshogu Shrine complex inspired the saying "Never say splendid until you've seen Nikko."

I had one of the best days of my life when I did a day trip to MT FUJI.I travelled by bus to Mt Fuji 3rd stop for memory, took some great photos (clear day lucky me)then bus to a sulphure spring where you boil an egg and it turns black, then you eat it and you are supposed to live 7 years longer.next you go down the mountain by sky chair woooowww, till you get to Lake Hakone,a lake in a volcano crater, sail up the lake in a pirate like ship to the bus at the other end.You then have a choice to go back to Tokyo central by bus or by Bullit train,,what a day
Fondest memory: Mt FUJI
Catch a glimpse of MOUNT FUJI: the world famous FUJI-SAN is on everyone's itinerary if you are on a tour to Tokyo. To be able to see the snow-capped mountain is considered very lucky. So, brace yourself for a spiritual journey! Icon of peace & serenity, this mountain has been regarded as home of the gods.
Fuji-san lies about 60 miles (97 km) southwest of Tokyo & is the highest mountain in Japan (12460 ft / 3798 m). Oldest lavas here have been dated as 8000 years old; a young volcano!
Fondest memory: The five lakes arched around the northern side of Mt. Fuji are an added bonus on this one-day excursion. Lake Kawaguchi is one of the most frequently visited lake on the 1 day-tour.
Day Trip to NIKKO: simply unforgettable in Autumn; with colorful Momiji (Japanese version of maple leaf) filling the mountains with life!
TOSHO-GU SHRINE is the most interesting building in Nikko. The decorations and relief carvings depicting the life-cycle of the monkey are one not to be missed. Look out for the famous 'hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil' threesome which have become emblematic of Nikko.
Fondest memory: One of my favorite Autumn vacation, aside from Canada which have the most beautiful Autumn season I've ever witnessed!
We were there only in transit (stayed one night in a hotel) before heading to Thailand.
Fondest memory: Wow, that airport is something in Narita. You have to take a sort of subway to get from one terminal to another. We had to take a bus to go to our hotel which was on the site of the airport itself. It took us 20 minutes to get to the hotel. The surroundings are beautiful. Very impressive. But prices in the airport are also impressive, watch out.
A must see and do activity is to go to Tokyo Disneyland...just goo extra early so you have all day to actually try and do everything.
Fondest memory: Sitting in one of the many coffee shops and talking to my closest friend for hours
