The Ootoya Restaurant was a real find in Iidabashi, not far from the International Hostel. It is on Kagaruzaka Street, which is a narrow tree lined street leading up hill from the crossroad down hill when you turn out of the west exit of JR Iidabashi station. The restaurant does not have an English menu, but it does have a fully inclusive picture menu that you can use to order. Customers order their food at the counter and pay, before getting a meal. It was very popular with locals, which is always a good sign. Although it's not "olde Japan" the food is great. We reckon this was our best meal in Tokyo and it didn't cost the earth.
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor and we found it completely by chance. Keep your eye out for a small sign at the top of the hill and look for this entrance way.
Favorite Dish: Miso!
The second picture shows what we all had for dinner... I had the dish in the bottom left of picture.
