Have a date and want to impress her with a unique spot? Try Vampire Cafe out in Ginza. It's not an easy location to find, but definitely worth the trek. It's a gothic themed restaurant where the waitresses dress up in dark French maid outfits and the waiters wear tuxedos as if coming out of a Dracula horror movie. The interior is a bit tight, but the lighting makes you feel you've entered a club with everything being eerily lit in red. There's a few open spaces, but the best thing are the booths which have beaded draperies to give you a more snug feeling with your mate.
In terms of menu items, they're familiar Japanese interrupted Italian mix with pastas, appetizers and some interesting drinks. However, all have been renamed to some vampiric-like title. For instance, there's an excellent house specialty cocktail which is something like Vampire's Blood (don't remember the exact name). Quite refreshing red mix of wine and fruit juice. So don't let the names fool you. The appetizers are also excellent. We have some kind of cheese roll.
Be wary of the price though. For two, expect to pay up to $100, especially if you order a lot of drinks. The menu items are so-so in price, but they leave you wanting more. Yet since there's hardly any restaurants like this, it's great to go just for the experience.
Favorite Dish: House specialty cocktail - a little on the pricey side (i believe 900-en), but incredibly tasty. Won't get you buzzed so you'll want to order a few. Watch the tab!
