Ueno Park has a number of nice museums and the museum also known as "National Science Museum" is popular particularly among family tourists. The first time I went to this museum was more than 20 years ago. I made another visit this March and I am really surprised that much of it has been changed for the better. It takes at least two hours if you would like to visit major parts of the museum. Audio guide in English is helpful but it is sometimes confusing and in some area the audio comments do not come right place at the right moment. And it is really time consuming. So it may be wise to use it only where you really want to use it. So visiting both National Museum and this one is indeed out of the question. The museum is so voluminous. Just like, say Natural Science Museum in New York. Take time for the museum and Ueno Zoo, I guess your children will enjoy a lot.

One of the many museums within Ueno Park is the National Museum of Science and Technology.
There are some interesting displays, and hands on stuff for the kids as well. Interesting indeed.
