View from the Tower is quite something especially on a clear day although the smog spoils it a bit. There are 2 view points, one at 150 metres and the other at 250 metres.
There is an observation lounge at the top, as well as a wax museum and restaurants.

Hmmm, not sure wether this should be a tourist trap or not, I'll give it the benefit because of the stunning views over the city. Suggest you go at dusk - the lights are really spectacular from 330m above ground even though my photos were rubbish! Apparently it's just a little taller than the Eiffel Tower - so there! On the downside there are some terrible "attractions" there too, once I'd seen the sights I couldn't wait to get out. G;ad I went?....yes. Go again?....no.

Because of timing, I had to schedule my visit to Tokyo Tower during the daytime. Nevertheless, it was still an impressive sight. I was a little discourgaged by the admission price for the main obervatory though, about 1200 yen if i remember. I opted to go just halfway up. Still, the view was still great as it was a fairly clear day. Mt. Fuji was still barely visible though.

Built in 1958 to serve as a relay station for TV and radio signals, Tokyo Tower was modeled after the Eiffel Tower but added an extra 10 meters. At 333 meters, it is still the tallest structure in Japan. The Main Observatory is 150 meters off the ground. The Special Observatory, a further 100 meters up, is reached by a second elevator. On fine days, especially in winter when humidity levels fall, it is possible to see Mt. Fuji to the west. The four-story building under the tower houses an aquarium and a Wax Museum, as well as other amusement facilities and shopping arcades that sell souvenirs.

A landmark of Tokyo, this 333 meter high broadcasting tower was built in 1958. The large observation floor is 150m from the ground and there is a special observation platform at 250m.
.
Attractions include a waxworks museum, an aquarium; and the tower is spectacularly lit at night.

Everyone slams the tower. But I sympathize, its ugly and just stuck there. At least thats how it looks during the day. However, at night, if your in Roppongi, take a break from clubbing and dancing and walk to the tower. The view is fantastic and you can't say you've been to Tokyo unless you've been to the top. Admission fee isn't bad but dont pay the extra money to go to the second observation deck. The view is no different.

Visit Tokyo's version of the Eiffel Tower, the TOKYO TOWER. Built in 1958 to carry television transmissions, it now broadcasts all eight of Tokyo's channels as well as FM radio stations. Cameras at the 250m level keep an eye on the city's notorious traffic and send pictures to a central control room, the source of the information flashed up along the expressway. The tower is the world's tallest freestanding iron structure. The view from the 150m level is not remarkable; you need to pay the extra charge to go to 250m if the day is clear enough to make it worthwhile

You may visit the Tokyo Tower and enjoy a 360-degree view of the whole Tokyo or enjoy the same view from Tokyo Metropolitan Goverment Office in Shinjuku without entrance rate!
Good place to visit is Meiji Shrine Temple in Harajuku.
