My trip was made when SARS deadly affecting many Asian countries. Each passenger have to go through a infra-red temperature scan before getting into the immigration counters, which is simple and fast, not much trouble though.

I love taking pictures from airplane windows. This one was taken when the plane was landing Tokyo Narita International Airport.
This is my first view of Japan! From far, I can see very houses & farm lands are neatly arranged... feel very Japanese.
In fact, this airport is not in Tokyo, it is located in Chiba-ken, which is a prefecture next to Tokyo. It takes about 45 mins by train from Narita airport to Tokyo city center.

Narita Airport is a huge, modern airport with many amenities. I was unfortunatly delayed on a trip back to America, but I was able to pass the time in the dozens of shops that are found in the terminals. In fact I got quite bit of last minute shopping done here and had trouble carrying all of my bags on the plane! The terminals are connected by a sleek monorail, pictured here. The biggest drawback is the distance from here to Tokyo, about 45 miles. I used a Limosine Bus (which is just a regular bus) to get to the city.

Most major airlines would go to Tokyo either by direct flight or a stopover flight. I took Northwest Airlines to Tokyo. First time flying with Northwest. Not bad. Space is wide. Food is ok. Only cons is that there are no personal TV on board in the economy class. Also, there wasn't wide range of choices of TV programmes

Well i got a ticket with Virgin Atlantic for 190 pounds, amazing huh!!! one of the positives out of the recent terrorism crisis. i dont think you will get this!! you have to go from london anyway but for people in Europe, its cheaper via London
Check All Nippon, they seem to be cheaper then other airlines getting to Tokyo
Also try Osaka and see if it is cheaper, only 3 hrs by slow train
To get from Narita is easy either by train or bus, both about 1 hour but cheaper by bus
Tokyo is so easy to get around. The subway is all in english and the station workers understand enough english or facial language to know where u want to go. Its fast, on time, clean and safe. However best to avoid early morning, i havent seen so many people going to work in my life
Also another alternative is the cheap JR lines. I heard that it is possible to go round Japan on this for 30 pounds. It is a train society in this city. And the shinkansen, dont need any more mention on this except expense

I usually use No. 1 Travel and they speak a range of different languages and the service is excellent.
I haven't used Hit Travel before, but it comes highly recommended from my friends.

The main international airport is Narita. You need to account at least 1-2 hours of travel time to get TO and FROM Narita in your plans.
