Train Station in Tokyo, too much people,eh?

For the most part, the crowds were not bad but during the busy times of the day - there were a lot of people! The underground subway stations are clean and had kiosks selling candy, ties, and magazines.
Every station have helpful information desks where you could go to ask questions about getting to your destination. Depending in your destinations, there are alot of trains in our around the area. Tokyo Station is huge where it is where the starting point to the countryside! Shinkanshen/Bullet Train, the best for countryside trip though abit of expensive!

To those who only have a stop over in Narita Airport; http://www.narita-airport.or.jp/airport_e/guide/service/index_shower.html

railway station

First thing to have in mind when you need to take a train in Japan is that there are many private lines.
There is the Japan rail which is partially public and many other lines, sometime you have more lines that go to the same place and you can chose.
So if you have to go somewhere by train you should not just ask the direction and the bound but you should make also sure to know which line you are going to take as any line has its own platforms and its own prices and its own tickets.

Tokyo Station

Tokyo station is a very busy station indeed, as nearly all long distance trains leave from here, most notably the Shinkansen headed north south and west.

Its design is of interest in itself, and the building itself is like a vast labyrinth, with the various local and long distance lines, and plenty of places to eat.

It was built in the early 20th cenury roughly based on the Central Station in Amsterdam.

Plenty of local lines stop here as well.

Huge station, pretty much central to most of the transport network. Starting place for many Shinkansen services and local trains too. Connection to several subway lines although some are a surprisingly long walk. On your first visit you'll almost certainly get lost, 2nd and 3rd too we did! but once you get the hang of it not so many poblems.
