International Flight Departures, Toyama Japan

This is the cutest display for international departure and arrival I've ever seen.

As of this printing, there are direct flights generally 2-3 weekly from Toyama to Vladivostok, Seoul and Dailan.

Not only it is a cute international lobby, but as there are hardly any people, the processing procedures are very, very smooth.

Of course there are limited facilities such as currency exchange and souvenier/sundries shops (very small selection and/or limited hours of operation) as well, so it's better to prepare that beforehand.

Fly on a Yak-40 from Toyama to Vladivostok!

VladAvia Yak-40, Toyama Japan

We were surprised at the size of this plane - we counted 7 rows, 4 seats per row.

There are twice weekly flights from Toyama to Vladivostok, and the flight takes about 2.5 hours.

We were also a little surprised at the age of the plane - 1970's retro time warp!! But the ride was smooth, if a little cramped (large persons will definitely feel squashed in) and the "smoke" which at first billows from under your seats mid-flight is just air-conditioning being turned on, and everything went well after all. But the toilet room is scary and I can't understand how anyone over 160cm (5ft5in) can even manage to close the door! I'd recommend to time your fluid intake or perservere in that aspect if possible.

The train station illustrated in the leftmost side is Toyama Dentestsu Station, which is adjacent to Toyama JR Station. Toyama of course is a sea town located on the side of the Sea of Japan.

Getting around

Getting around Toyama is pretty simple cause of the very convenient streetcar system. There are 3 lines (I think) and its just one flat rate to go anywhere, 200yen. Besides, it’s a fun to get around the city and its limited sites.

getting around toyama using local transportations is inconvinient in a way, that its not that frequent although very accurate in timing. also i consider it expensive: just getting on the bus cost you around 170 yen. for cars, the fuel is so expensive here so you have got to put a balance for your fuel per month around 10,000 yen minimum. so bicycle is good specially if you live downtown.
i will edit this info once i discover a new convenient mean of transportation

toyama driving licence

To make a driving license...tough one here
1- 3000en as a start for paper making
2- Reserve a test date for foreigners only once a week either Wednesday or Friday
3- Fill the paper with you details and go early that day because the applications are only submitted from 8:30 to 9 am. at window no 2 give your papers to be stamped and 3400 en = test fees
4- go to the opposite window, and submit your papers and ID card, they will give you the driving course which is either A,B,C. easiest a then c then b.
5- You will have around 30 mins to go around the course by walking... which is very important to do rehearsal.
6- around 9:30 go near window no 7 and the tester will come out and call you to tell you about the details of the test which is already written on the back of the course paper.
7- If there is many people taking the test he will give each one a no.
8- You can sit in the back seat of the car before your own turn.
p.s 3 courses maps i got from the training school are attached but soon i will attach more clear ones.

getting ready for toyama driving license test

In toyama very rare for anyone to get the license from first time. Failure is a must. 3rd and 4th time is possible while others might reach 10th. I got it from the third time because I took 4 times training in school opposite to the test building.
The driving school is the small green building to the right of the test building. first you will pay 3000 en opening fees, reserve a day for training. Its one hour each time and costs 5500 en each. you will do the training on the schools course several times till the trainer decides you are ready for training on the tests real course.@
Just notice,
1-these people are making money from you, so they will keep telling: you are not ready for the test. Each time you do training they get 5500 en and the real course training is 6500 en. So around the 2nd or 3rd time you should demand that you canft do more training and you need to take a real course training at least for once.
2- probably they will respond you are the customer. Butc I saw those trainers in the test building several times and donft know what they do there???????
