CHIKAN
I want to start with saying this is something that never happened to me. Thank God. But I have heard from friends in Tokyo that this does occur, alot. And the numbers are apparently still rising.During rushhours when trains and subways are packed some men take the opportunity to feel up women. They are called "chikans" and may not stop even when you tell them to. They take advantage of the fact that the trains are so crowded nobody can move. To been on a safer side as a female solo traveller use the pink cars - women only - during rush hours.
