Akiyoshi-do (cave) is the largest limestone cave in Japan. It is a good place to visit, especially in summer. Inside the cave is only 18-20 oC.This is huge cave.... when you enter it, seems like you enter big hall.... full with stalactites and stalagmites.This cave was famous with hyakumai-zara-the limestone pools that looks like hundred-plate. Entrance fee is quite expensive, 1200 yen for adult, including audio guide in several languages.
Kintai-kyo was one of the three most famous bridges in Japan. The tourist are allowed to walk across it with crossing fee is 300 yen.Across of the bridge there is Kikko park (free admision fee) with Iwakuni Historical museum inside the park. In the park there is a house of white snake. it is really snake, not only the monument.Some bento shops are available on the way to the bridge, but not in the park.

Otozure River is flowing through the central part of the hot spring resort; the River is the birthplace of the Genji firefly of a natural treasure, and is flying about the river from June to July.

Akiyoshi-do Cave located at the southern foot of Akiyoshi Plateau, is said to the largest limestone cave in Japan.It was named “Akiyoshi-do” by the Showa Emperor, when he visited it in 1926 as Crown Prince.Akiyoshi-do Cave is huge, measuring 420,000 cubic meters, and took 300,000 years to form.The length is estimated at 10 kilometers and its widest measures 100 meters.In the huge cave, falling rocks have formed large mounds and waterfalls.The colour and shapes of stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, and limestone pools are fantastic that you feel as if you are in an underground palace.[Back to Akiyoshidai Quasi National Park]
