During Summer Months of July and August, Mt. Fuji is officially open for climbing season., at which time there are bus routes which will run to a mid-point (so-called "5th Station" of Mt. Fuji), and mountain huts along the way for refreshments or rest.
Equipment: Usual hiking gear and average physical fitness for a moderately, but not extremely difficult hike.
Clothing and Sun Protection to withstand about 0-5 deg C weather at the Summit (3700 metres).
Allowing time and pacing speed to adjust to High Elevation Air. *I had warned my climbing colleague against rushing too quickly to get to the top, who then was suddenly struck violently ill only during the time at the top.*
