Tengri Hotel near Azzatyk Avenue. The bar was nice - live music on the Wednesday I went there. Quite bizarre - at one point the singer was playing some romantic song while a video of Britney Spears was playing behind him (in a school uniform). However the beer is good - cold Baltica draught and Amstel from a large fridge. A good range of spirits behind the bar and quite comfy surroundings, sofas etc. Mixed clientele, all ages. Quite busy. Service was good and they are anxious to 'top you up'. Owned by the Chagala group of companies currently.

Address: Near Azzatyk Avenue
Theres a bar down stairs that goes by the name of "the Samford" - its modelled on a traditional English pub - a few tables and lots of standing room.
Upstairs is the nightclub/disco called the Myak. Again a few tables, lots of standing room and a split dance floor.
The raised dance floor is populated by a variety of resident dancers over the weekend.
Drinks are averagely priced, about 500 tenge (just over 2 GBP) for a beer, 1000 tenge for a G & T or VRB if you are that way inclined.
Before 10pm the pub is empty. before 12pm the night club is empty. The Myak has a door charge of 2000 tenge - alot of pople stay dow stairs and watch the action in the nightclub on a large video screen.
Dress Code: Anything goes as long as you wear something
Do not drink too much and keep your wits about you. The local population accepts the expat presence but you must respect them.
Don't flash money and jewellery around, you will have problems if you do. Several people have been mugged outside the club.
