From my last visit, Almaty is turning into something of a nightlife centre. There are far too many places to visit to list them all here, and they change so rapidly it would kind of be pointless. However, probably the best place to start as a foreigner is Mad Murpheys or the Dubliner. Both consistently popular with ex-pats (so obviously pricey), but you should be able to pick up tips on where to go from there.

There are many great irish pubs in Almata where you can chat with friends & have your favourite drinks. They're called: Dublin, Mad Murphey's, Dyken's, Guiness, etc.
In Mad Murphey's there's billiards on the second floor.

Address: all of them are in the center
Russian pop music is really big at the discos. Of course the prostitutes do line some roads in the cities too! And the Kazakhs point them out and say, 'see, a big cow, and she won't even give milk'. Russian Wolfhounds were bred to hunt on the steppes. I have been breeding them here in the USA for about 25 years!

there is a cool nightclub for gays, where they make a great live entertainment show & discoteque, they have the best DJs in Almaty. If you're not gay, don't worry, they'll not bother you:)
