Kazakhstan has extreme fluctuations in weather

Packing List

Extreme cold weather gear is essential in winter, if you go up the mountains at all. Boots not shoes. If you are going to the more remote regions, you might like to bring a few items of clothing or toys etc as presents for the children of people with whom you might become friendly. Many Kazakhstan citizens today, particularly in the interior of the country, are living on pennies, thanks to the absurd and corrupt way the country is run. Without being condescending, it is possible to diplomatically help people without even putting out much in the way of money or effort.
