Climbing Lenin peak

by aleshka

Chon-Ton or Peak Lenin (7134m) is the highest peak of the Zaalai Ridge on the North border of the Pamir. It is covered by snow and glaciers on which some easy ways lead to the top. It is a very popular mountain region due to ease of access to the Base Camp and to the summit. The Base Camp (3600m) is situated on a green meadow with much of edelweiss among the simple grass. This is why it is often called "edelweiss Meadow". There are wonderful views of the mountains from this place. Each year many climbers come here for the ascent from all around the world. Better way to go the there is using local agency, which is satle base camp there. Base camp working from begining of July till end of August.

Marco Polo Sheep hunting in Tienshan

by Tipper

Marco Polo Sheep hunting is one of the mos difficult hunts in the world. It requires hunter to be fit and healthy as he has to chase animals on the altitude between 3000 and 4000 meters. Hunting in Kyrgyzstan is more then just sport but real pleasure of communicating with locals and being surrounded by majestic landscapes of celestial Tienshan mountains.Besides that they say that the Kyrgyzstan trophies are the best and horn length reaches the length of 170 cm (68 inches). The price of such hunting tour would be around $17000 Warm and very warm clothes. Good rifle. Scope. 40-60 ammos.

Sun Bathing a Mile High

by MrRandMcnally

Its hard to imagine that the beaches of Issy Kul are at the same altitude ad Denver but there it is. You can sit on the beach, swim in crystal clear waters (with just enough salinity to float comfortably), and look at snow capped mountians all at the same time. A beautiful place.I've heard there are a couple jet skis on the lake. I hope you all avoid them. Might be fun but wrecks the atmosphere.

Ride the Rapids

by MrRandMcnally

The mountians of Kyrgyzstan are cut by rapids that were just made to be ridden in a raft. I rafted the Chuy River, in the same vally as Bishkek. In August the water is moving. Rocks are generally submerged, just below the surface. Makes for a nice ride. Probably about Class 4 at the toughest though there may be some 5s, deffinatly keeps you paying attention but there are also calm places where you can take a nice refreshing dips. We went with Tien Shan Rafting company and they provided wet suits, rafts, paddles, guides, etc. I recomend losing the wetsuit jacket. It gets hot and the cold water is refreshing and not bad enough to warent the full suit. But that is my oppinion and I like the cold water.
