    Karakol Restaurants

Lovely Pizza is a very small Place. Just a few tables. Slow service and very boring atmosphere.I came here only because one in the Company wanted to smoke hookah but she left the Place unsatisfied too. The beer was OK, but the same beer was served at more fun places.

    Karakol Things to Do

Karakol is by no means a night spot, however the Town can live up nights when Groups of skiers are joining the local population in one of the night clubs. Beer, Vodka and Karaoke build up the atmosphere.

    Karakol Things to Do

Karakol is a very special Place to ski. It is rather small and to reach the slopes you have to ride in a 4x4 on bumpy roads for almost half an hour.Up in the slopes there is a ski rental shop, a hotel and a couple of places to eat. There are both groomed slopes and several opportunities to ski off pist. There were no lift lines and no crowding in the...

I can't really think of anything else to do in Tamchy other than veg out at the beach. Lake Issyk-kul is swimmable - surprising given its altitude. Many Russians from Kazakhstan come here on vacation. It's a quieter beach than nearby Cholpon-Ata. However, those expecting a pristine stretch of sand will be disappointed - it's swampy around the beach and the sand itself is kind of pebbly. Locals like it because it's all they've got. Most of us have seen much better.

Horse riding in the Barskoon grasses 1 more image

Starting to agree with my hubbie that horses should be eaten and not ridden. Good things and bad things:
Good thing: riding through the purple and gold pastures
Good thing: being taller than the grasses
Good thing: My children enjoying the horse ride despite being anxious at first
Good thing: ride only lasted 2 hours
Good thing: feeling of stiffness in my legs afterwards (yes this is a good thing - I was missing my exercise very much)
Good thing: being invited into the home of the horse owners for tea afterwards
Bad thing: losing my composure and my hat in a wild gallop across the pasture - a gallop I had not control over (horses on their way home!)
Bad thing: horse deciding it wanted to climb up a steep bank and then did not want to come back down
Bad thing: Horses speak Russian or Kyrgyz. Tsk Tsk Tsk as I was taught in my horseriding lessons is NOT the same in Russian. "Chew" is the word to say to get the horse to move.
