Depending on how much you know about Lao, the market is the thing. Every town has one and Attapu is no exception. The prices are unbelievable and the fruit is fresh. Have a little fun and try bargaining in Lao it gives the locals something to laugh at. They seem to get pleasure from a caucasian trying to speak Lao. I guess I have an accent. I bargained with someone for some bananas, the price he gave me was very high (25 cents). He was trying to high ball me. So I let him know by bargaining in Lao and got it down to 10 cents. He was quite amused and in the end I gave him the 25 cents anyhow. The moral, have fun bargaining but it's only 25 cents and boy was he happy when I told him to keep the change.
