There's market in Viengxay (the only one here) where local locals go shopping. Mostly for vegetable, Chinese made clothes and shoes, rice and kitchen utensils. It's a small one - as Viengxay is small village anyway. Most interesting for us were home made Huophan style cotton sarongs: different, lively colored and thread, some very thinly done patterns.
Beside market there were a few noodle shops where we went for breakfast. Quite good place to eat something local and have morning coffe as there's not much choice where to eat in Viengxay.
Obviously tourists - Lao and foreign - come here on a day tour - seeing caves and that kind of stuff so there's not much things you can do here beside that - and not much places to eat, a few guesthouses only. So is the market - place for local shoppers, large covered space in the heart of village by the pick up station, covered by tin roof with wooden stilts to carry construction.
