Off of the main street is a night market which sells some delicious food. It is quite new and when you enter there are various stalls selling spicy papaya salad, grilled chicken, duck, shakes, beer and an assortment of other tasty treats. Inside the main building local people are selling more local food. We were quite satisfied with a bowl of papaya salad served with sticky rice. It was a large portion good enough for the two of us. Good place to sit and chat to the locals.

This restaurant allows you to sample meals from the local minorities as well as the usual dishes, which is right on the main road next to Thoulasith GH. the building is native style and has an excellent notice board at the entrance with many literature and foto albums. There is also a tourist information desk where you can arrange treks and onward travel. The staff were friendly and the meals were excellent, particularly their vegetarian dishes.

Panda is small, nice place in Luang Nam Tha a few steps from the main road. Family takes care of it, cook and serve the dishes and we found ourselves eating there few times: they fry delicious fish and Lao foods. On the menu they also have few western dishes (and sandwiches) and shakes with affordable prices.
All the food is served on the wooden terrace upon the pond and there's view over the newer part of the town. In general it's good place to eat in friendly atmosphere.
Favorite Dish: local Lao fried fish
