That's one of the typical villages near VPK in the hills you can find off the main road and there are many more (whose name is known only to locals). We found it with help of villagers in other places who kindly gave us 'directions' and shared knowledge of local edible plants along the way. We were trying to find some ruins mentioned in the guide book and were supposed to be around here - but was difficult to explain since none understood any English and we couldn't speak enough Lao either. Majority of people here are animists, shy but polite and few inviteD us in their homes to sit down with them. The houses are bulit of bamboo hatch walls or straw which they use also for roof. Along the way you pass small and shallow river and few larger trees (forest is already gone here). In the fileds water buffalos were mowing the grass or laying in the muddy waters.
Before taking any photos (either people or their village) you should ask politely and do it as discreetly as possible as they haven't yet been overexposed to cameras.
