2013:This elephant 'camp' is now gone from here, instead there is private hotel, spa, wellness, whatever you call 'resort'.It is difficult to keep the track what's been going in the country recently... things changing with lightspeed once there is more foreign currency flowing in. If the business last more than 2 years, it's success... the other just drift away.From our well informed local friends we heard that few elehnats died here and the other were moved. One elephant cost fortune and you're not allowed to take it from wild. Only domesticated elephants you can keep for work. On their website they say they still have elephants here, though - I dunno if you can visit, we could 4 years before but it was another policy then... you've got to ask somebody.

It takes some 30 km from Luang Prabang and between 45 min to 1 hr driving to get to this gorgeous place.Water is abundant here, in dry season you may wish to stay here during the hottest hours of a day to swim in some of the pools created by water running through limestone bedrock.It's is impressive, this Tad Kuang Xi (Kuang Si). Water comes with turqouise colors falling over cascading rocks and pools, the vegetation around is lush and provides pleasant shadow, the air is sweet and fresh. In some of the pools you're allowed to swim and soak; lots of Lao girls and boys will swim with their clothes on and it is expected from foreigner that he/she won't show too much skin either. Though you may see ladies in bikini running around this is something considered disrespectful to the culture here; not only young and westernized Lao who don't mind such views visit Kuang Si, but also families and...
