Joma Bakery Cafe: Don't miss this bakery!!

by ihaveataste4danger

Number one the atmosphere was like the posh cafe's back home with wood tables/chairs, nicely painted walls etc... But overall the food was amazing... for all of you who crave fresh apple pie... whip cream, real baguette, waffles and whip cream... they have it all! and its all really reasonably priced too! waffles with whip cream and honey one word i inhaled it, so good light flufy and the whip cream was real and bloody delicous!

Don't Miss: Steam Rice Roll

by vigi

OK. This is my number one favourite street food in Laos, ladies and gentlement, let me introduce: STEAM RICE ROLL!!! Minced pork & musroom wrapped with a sheet of transparent, thin & smooth rice sheet. Serve with "Steam Pork Wrapped with Banana Leaves". Dipping sauce = fish sauce + fried garlic + peanut + lime juice. Price = 6,000 kip.

Luang Prabang: Breakfast by Mekong River

by vigi

Have a breakfast by Mekong River is a good experience. Although it is more expensive than average than other street food in Luang Prabang, the price still cheap in overseaas standard. What a pity is that they serve only Western / American breakfast unless under special request for Asia menu. Very touristic. Laos is not "untouched by tourist" anymore!

Close up: Rice Porridge

by vigi

A close up of rice porridge I had. Still think the Cantonese style rice porridge in Hong Kong tsate better, but this is not bad though. Locals love to put fish sauce, soya sauce and lots of chilli into the porridge, making it salty and spicy. I prefer plain.

Mandarin

by vigi

If you want some fruit, there many many choices in Laos. Watermelon, banana, papaya, etc... Among all, there're lots of mandarin in the market. If you find too much trouble eating mandarin, buy a bottle of mandarin juice, pretty nice.

No.2 favourite: Baquette

by vigi

Baquette is popular in breakfast menu, both for locals and for travellers. Locals (as me as well) love to eat with lots of Asian stuffings, while most Western tourists buy them in plain. The best thing I love is that they use original charcoal to toaste the baquette! Hmmm....... fantastic!

Grilled Animal

by vigi

Laos people love to eat grilled meat. You can see many street vendors selling all kinds of grilled meat. Most of the time you can find chicken, buffelos meat, and birds. Here it is a whole piece of "I don't know what" animal. I don't dare to try.

Buffalo

by xaver

One of the best local dishes I tasted, was buffalo meat. They grill it and put in a sweet sauce, it is simply delicious. In the menu you will probably find a fried buffalo meet, don't worry, you can order as they often defined as fried everything cooked.

Baguette: Colonialism

by xaver

As in Vietnam, in Laos you could find baguettes everywhere, even in the remote villages..good?For me travelling for thousend miles and getting offered exactly the same thing that I see every day in the shop next to my door, is just sad.
