In Vientiane, Pha That Luang, the Great Sacred Stupa, was little more than a chedi spray-painted gold, and its out of the way from all the other attractions.
Wat Sisaket. Other travelers really recommended this temple to me, but I'm not sure why. Other temples nearby are much more rewarding.
On the Mekong river tour from Thailand you stop for 20 minutes in Laos at some souivoneers villiage. Could not see much.
National Ethnic Cultural Park. Everything is closed, the place is deserted, the zoo is empty. Why is it still open ?
There wasn't much in Laos that I could define as a 'tourist trap' other than the playful children who will instantly turn you into a moving jungle gym!
dont eat at uncle freds fried chicken,[situated in the main street of the shopping district of vientiane] even the pack dogs wouldn't hang round for long out the front of there. just a friendly hint.
