Fisherman's Wharf: Lots of choice!

by sckelly64

The new Fisherman's Wharf in Macau is host to a dozen restaurants, with more soon to open. This is clearly going to be a huge new draw for Macau. The Italian Restaurant there was absolutely delicious, and in the same complex there is a Chinese (Cantonese) restaurant and a branch of the famous and hugely popular Al's Diner (from Hong Kong). Many more restaurants are coming, including a Vietnamese, a Hungarian (novel!) and seafood. Give it a try. Easy walk from the TurboJet Terminal, across from Sands Casino! Pizzas were amazing - two feet long!

Streetfood: MANGO With STICKY RICE

by RoyJava

My mam always made me a dessert I really donot know the name of. It is a sticky rice, dressed with fruits. And the fruit I preferred was durian ... the Indonesian name is "ketan duren". So this one should be named "ketan manga". You cannot get it in a restaurant, because it is considered a very local food dish. Well, I'll tell you you will love it! It is a dessert ... to lick your fingers. In Macau you cannot get the durian dessert I do love that much. Though you can another one ... made of mango! The taste is absolutely delicious, not yielding to the durian in taste! Let it melt in your mouth and enjoy this super mango dessert.

we were on our way to see the St AUgustine church and passed this porridge shop and decided to stopover. Instead i ended up having fresh warm soymilk drink, and also delicious raddish cake. The cake had slivers of raddish and some driede shrimps but i kept on pouring the delicious sweet sauce in the bottle and kept sprinkling the sesame seeds!!! they also have black sesame pudding cake.

!: small pot rice

by Audrey118

We were wondering around the road Rua De Felicidade (in Chinese they call it Fook Loon Kai which means Happiness Street becos this area used to be the Red Light District).... anyway, there are some good restaurants here inc the famous and very old Fat Sui Lau (Laughing Buddha restaurant), and there was this place with lots of claypots outside.... small pots of rice. You can choose from a variety of toppings which are added ontop of the rice and cooked over the fire. So there is at least 15 mins waiting time. There is beef with egg, gingered pork, minced pork cake with salted fish (salt fish is popular delicacies of Macau as you can see from shops esplly in gift shops like Ki Kee, and also many shops in Taipa island), we also had Macau version of shark fin soup - which is a cloudy consomme with bits of fins!!!At number 32 of the same street you can have sesame pudding.

Wong Kun: crab porridge and wanton noodles

by Audrey118

small place but popular with locals and tourist. It was featured also in the Tourism booklet, and had famous food critic Choi Lam picture taken with the proprietor. The place is small and a little cramp. But we enjoyed the company of the cheerful proprietor who was quick to promote what to eat and take home as well. Crab prridges with crab roe, and also wanton shrimp noodle, and a platter of fresh lettuce stir fried with garlic. We also bot home some of the sprinkling of prawn head, and chilli oil...

Macau Choi Lam Gourmet Kitchen: dan dan mee

by Audrey118

I am a sucker for CHoi Lam food - but this one was a bit of a let down. We were at Lai Kee having ice cream, and ran into a lady who claimed her bf opened this outlet in Macau. So we trot to the Gourmet outlet, wanting to have something nice in comfortable surrounding and yet around the touristy Senado Square. It was such a laugh, when we saw the building. I was amused by the sketch of Choi Lam - who is btw a famous food critic- a film producer before. Anyway, i have watched many series of Choi Lam together with pretty HKong actresses globe trotting in search of exquisite local food. I was further amused that his so called gourmet outlet shares the building with Mac Donald!!!We decided to try out the Wing Lai Yuen - which is famous for the Sichuan styled food. and my fav would be Dan Dan handmade mee. Fyi, Wing Lai Yuen is very popular in HKong for the authentically spicy Sichuan food...

A Lorcha: Portugese Food

by Audrey118

We were around the A Ma temple, at the tip of the peninsular, and was looking for a bus ride back to the centro (center of town - the Segado square), and discovered that A Lorcha (named of a type of boat!!) was in the neighbourhood. It is just passed the Maritime Admin building...As it was a Monday, and the restaurant closes on every Tuesday - we decided even though not too famish for food we will go to have a bite. Ended up having a seafood rice which came so quickly - suspicious !!! they have it pre-prepared and probly added the last touch or possibly it is a very popular dish - always available to be ladled out!!! , and of course my fav salt cod. There was no room for desserts. seafood rice had lots of catch of the sea - crab, mussels and prawns. It was moist - but not soupy like the ones we had in Porto in Portugal which we enjoyed lots. The cod cakes were great though - although a...

Yee Soon Milk: delicious milk based desserts

by Audrey118

This is a chained outlet - we saw one at the famous Senado square (pink building with a black and white cow emblem ontop), also one on the busy road passed the square on the way to Koi Kee bakery. The place is a small yet bustling place. They mainly serve milk based drinks, puddings, and some snacks like pork chop burgers, instant noodles with egg or sausage - which is a staple breakfast for Hong Kong folks!!we went there twice in the same day!!! Milk puddings - especially the warm one that leaves a smooth milky and warm feeling, - we like the ones with ginger flavour - cost 16 dlrs, and plain cold milk pudding at 14 dlrs, but with extra money you can also add toppings like stewed red beans, or stewed lotus seed etc. We tried the red bean - it was nice. we particularly enjoyed the cold milk drink or milk shake. Only once it was not cold. We love all the flavours. It is like ice blended...

Sio Hong Mao: Yummy Noodles

by i-s-a

A small eatery serving delicious hot noodles. You have two options for the soup...either broth or cocomilk.Nothing special with the ambience...the usual plastic chairs and white-tiled counters. But the place is clean and the service is fast.
