stall along Fook Lun New Street (Translated): Trotters in Sour Vinegar & Shark's Fin Soup

by myspices

It a small stall but known to many locals. It's run by husband & wife team. Home-cooked, Simple set-up. Some stools for you to sit by the side of the stall. Two specialties - the trotters & ginger with sour vinegar and the shark's fin soup. Price : between MOP10.00 to MOP15.00. The trotters & ginger with sour vinegar - stewed till soft and melting. The ginger is crunchy to the bite and the texture of the trotters is just nice - not too soft or too hard. The Shark's fins soup - quite ok. Not actually wanting to eat the shark's fins but more so wanted to taste the delicious hot soup on a cold night. Soup is with shredded chicken pieces and mushrooms. Good texture too! (Remember to add some vinegar).See two pics of the mentioned dish.

one of the small shops along FookLun New Street: Hot Pot - crunchy crust

by myspices

It's a small Chinese restaurant along the way to St. Paul ruins. Outside the shop, you will be able to see an array of claypots on top of small stoves. You will have your choice of steam rice topped with either the meat or the fish. The meat or fish is marinated with delicious sauce and ginger. You will need to wait about 15minutes for the rice to be cooked. Service is pretty fast and shop owner is very courteous and honest too (I carelessly left my digital camera there and when I went back to get it, they were keeping it safe for me). They not only serve hot pots, they serve other fried dishes mentioned in the menu. Your choice of a hot pot - rice topped with either marinated meat or fish. We choose to have the pork ribs (the pot on the right) and delicious eel pieces (left pot) . Deeply marinated with tasty sauce and ginger, the pot of goodies is simply yummy. Eat until the last bit -...

Ma Kok Meng Ke Restuarant: Local Portuguese-inspired specialities to die for!

by idy

This little family-run cafe can be found among the row of eateries along Rua Do Almirante Sergio. The interior may not be much, but the food is quite something. There are a number of dishes to choose from, and you prob'ly won't go wrong with some of their Portuguese specialities. Which are the specialities? In the menu, you can find some reviews that have been written about the dishes by various media, so it's fairly easy to spot.Portions are big, so bring an appetite! We ordered soups and a main course each, and could not finish the food! The cafe opens at 11.30am. The Portuguese-style red wine grilled pork ribs is highly recommended! The ribs are tender and the marinade is superbly flavourful!

nepal restaurant and bar: bring on the dal, bhat and tarkari!

by zephyrgurl108

Okay, so I really haven't figured out the difference between Indian and Nepalese cuisine but I love this restaurant. While visitors to Macau go on a meat overload trying out Portuguese restaurants, it's a little problem for vegetarians. So this Nepal Restaurant and Bar stands as one of the few good options. Bring on the dal, bhat and tarkari means lentils, rice and curry. And it seems like you can never make a wrong order here in this restaurant. It takes a while for the kitchen to prepare the food but good things will come your way. The resto has a mini-store at the entrance where you can buy Indian ingredients, incense and other knick knacks. Inside the more or less 50 seater restaurant, the walls are painted red orange hues and Indian or Nepalese wall decorations abound. The price is average. Spend more or less 200 patacas for 2 diners. They also provide delivery. So when in Taipa,...

Wing lai yuan Sichuan dan dan noodles: hot veggies

by zephyrgurl108

Restaurant's food consists mainly of meat dishes from the spicy region of Sichuan, China. But since most of the staff is English speaking, you may request a vegetarian meal that meets your dietary restrictions - no egg, no chicken broth, etc. One thing is for sure, even if you get the veggies, you won't escape the spice. The restaurant's interior is typical Chinese set up, big round tables, with red and gold theme. Location is very nice at it's right in the Lardo do Senado, in front of Levi's store. Opens earlier than most restaurants - 11AM. the spicy shredded potatoes

Aruna Indian Curry & Cafe House: BEST INDIAN FOOD OUTSIDE OF INDIA

by largerama

If you've been to India and you loved the food then you must visit this restaurant.Family run and so warm and welcoming, they serve very authentic food. There are Indian snacks very similar to what you buy from street vendors in India and the currys are really good North Indian style but a little spicier When we were there they did the fried potato snacks as you would get on the streets of India with the sweet tomato sauce. Also frsh chapatis cooked at a table in the restaurant.

Pou Tai Un Temple Vegetarian Restaurant: vegetables picked from the temple grounds

by zephyrgurl108

A great meal to end (or start) a great sightseeing in the Pou Tai Un Temple! Monks live here and plant a wide variety of vegetables and then serve them in the temple restaurant. Talk about fresh, hand picked veggies! What more can vegetarians want? The restaurant is huge, with a Laughing Buddha carved in wood standing on the center and ornate Chinese style tables. Staff are cordial and prompt and most speak English. deep fried wonton and fried spring rolls

harmony village restaurant: vegetarian treat in macau

by zephyrgurl108

it's tucked a little away from the center of town but it's worth going on a detour to. especially if you're a vegetarian. price is reasonable and the vegetarian chinese food is yummy. seems like the restaurant is new, with white walls and purple tables and a large painting of guan yin on the center wall. the owner is an overseas returnee who can speak english - a good thing since their menu is entirely in chinese. the fried dimsum and vegetable fried rice
