Taxi from the Pier to the city center
by girladventure
When you arrive at the pier, there will be a lot of guys that will approach you for transportation service. Do not hire those guys. It's a robbery. Some will charge you up HK$100 to take you to the city center (Senado Square).
No way!
There'a taxi stand outside the pier on your right. We only paid HK$20 (actually a little less) to the Senado Square.
Hiring a tour guide in Macau
by girladventure
When you arrive in Macau via ferry there will be a lot of tour guides offering their services to you. They can get aggressive and persistent sometimes and the prices will be ridiculous of course. In my opinion, Macau is very small and you really don't need a tour guide to explore this place.
If you prefer to hire a tour guide, ask the concierge at your hotel on how much they expect the cost would be and then from that, you can haggle with the tour guides.
All you need is a map which you can get from the Pier or from the hotel. It's a very simple map and shows you all the must see sites and more. That's what we did and it was very easy. You can pretty much see Macau in a day.
Casinos - don't bother
by NoFuture
There's nothing "wrong" with the casinos there, if you like to gamble, go, or if you just want to see them...The thing is that if you've been to Vegas, the ones in Macau really cannot compare and you may feel a little disappointed. I'd heard there were loads of casinos in Macau and was thinking "Oooh wow, just like Las Vegas! Can't wait to see all the crazy buildings!" and there were none... : (
