Hong Kong is linked to Macau by more than 150 sea crossings every day, with a choice of jetfoil, turbocat, foilcat or express ferry services. The fastest way is just under an hour with Turbojet. Fare and schedules are below: turbojet_sailing_rev If you have a bit more time and want to save some money, take the catamarans from First Ferry. The trip between Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Terminal and Macau is 70 minutes. This is the link to fare and schedule: search_route.asp Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

As the Macau Tower is one of the most popular visitor attractions, I thought I'd put a quick tip on showing potential visitors how to get there, and also I like the pic I want to add to this tip, so its a opportunity for me to post it. If you plan on visiting this striking landmark of Macau, then bus 23 will take you there. It goes from Lotus Square (across from the Grand Prix Museum), or from the various other stops along the route. We got it from the across the square though. A single journey to get to the tower will cost you 2,50 Patacas (about HK$2,50) Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

One of the many ways of getting around Macua is on one of these buses, they are quite small and only take like 15 people, but they are very inexpensive and will get you to your destination cheaply and quite fast too. Some of the bus stops have pictures of the attractions the bus will stop at so you will not always get lost. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

**Please note the following information is only valid for travel from Hong Kong** First Ferry operates a very regular service between Hong Kong and Macau. During the daytime and early evening you can expect to see ferries departing every half hour between Hong Kong and Macau, and vice versa. The journey is quite fast and will take you only around 60-75 minutes. As for costs, they are also quite varied, and will be around HK$280 for a return journey, some fares might increase slightly depending on the times of day you travel. Duty free goods are available for purchase on the ferry and were very cheap indeed. Please note that if you plan a trip to Macau it is essential that you remember to take your passport, as you will pass through immigration in Hong Kong as well as Macau. Ferries depart from Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui) from the China Ferry Terminal. Leave a Comment

Helicopter transfers between Hong Kong and Macau are available. Providing a very regular service with a journey every half hour, lasting around 15 minutes. A return journey is little pricy costing around HK$ 3,400 (travelling off peak). The helicopter departs Hong Kong from the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal, 200 Connaught Road, Central, Hong Kong. Upon arrivel in Macau it lands at the helipad situated on the roof of Macau Maritime Terminal. Departure gate is located on 2/F, Macau Maritime Terminal, Avendia de Amizade, Macau. Leave a Comment

One of the means of transportation here in Macau is taking the bus. A fix rate of 2.30MOP within the island of Macau while 3.50MOP for Taipa and Coloane. Make sure to have exact amount when taking the bus coz they dont give change. It was a bit hard for us to move around with this mode of transpo because we didnt know where was the next bus stop... Its hard to ask the locals because most of them do not speak english. Theme: Bus

As with all other countries around the world, you can get around quite easily by taxi. Unfortunately we did not use a taxi, so I am not sure how cheap they are, but if they are the same costs as in Hong Kong, I would expect that they are pretty cheap then. Taxi's are also easily recognisable as many of them have a cream coloured roof. Note the other taxi's in the picture. (they also come in different models so ensure you hail a taxi not a road user lol) Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

If ferries dont take your fancy and you are still interested in visiting Macau, your other option is to fly there. Macau Airport is quite new and was completed in 1995, and since then has became quite popuar and many airlines has since added Macau to their destination list. Flights into Macau will originate from countries such as China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand. Leave a Comment

Macau has a well-established bus network. There is always a bus for every place you want to go. But.... how can I remember all the bus numbers for the various locations? Fret not - just look at the pictorial signage posted to this tip. The large photographs and fonts used on the signage is your key to survival in Macau! Just identify where your destination and you are able to locate a suitable bus for your journey. It's definitely an economical way to get around by buses in Macau. Fare starts from MOP2.50. The furthest I've taken was from Coloane (Hac Sa Beach) to Macau (San Ma Lo) and the fare? MOP5.00 (USD0.50). The buses are clean and very comfortable - it's like taking a private coach! A new budget airline that flies to and from Macau is Tiger Airways. A singapore based Airline that caters to travellers who are on fix budget :-) Their aircraft is relatively new. Nice interior, more spacious seating capacity and not so ear bugging engine. They offer special fare from time to time. So, better check their website once in awhile to get a special deal within Asia.
