Margaret's Cafe e Nata: Great Breakfast or Lunch Downtown

by rachel_simhon

For an absolutely lovely sidewalk cafe experience downtown, go to Margaret's Cafe e Nata. You can order a wonderful selection of freshly baked breads, cakes, and pastries, including of course the famous egg custard tarts. I went there for breakfast every day I was in Macau. Margaret is jovial and accomodating, and even remembered me from my last visit several months earlier. Be warned though -- it can get packed at peak hours. A warm sultana danish and cappuccino is the best breakfast in town, and only for MP15!

Sands Casino Buffet: Skip the Gambling, Go for the Food!

by rachel_simhon

While this buffet is situated in the Sands Casino, and you'll no doubt have to wait a few minutes for a table in the evening, it is actually one of the most incredible deals in Macau! For MP138 for lunch/MP188 dinner all-you-can-eat, the Sands Casino buffet has literally meters of every type or style of gourmet cuisine that one would imagine: Western, Chinese, Macanese, Pan-Asian, Indian, etc. Just their sushi and sashimi table, with an incredible array of melt-in-your mouth fresh fish makes it worth the expense, not to mention their unbelievable selection of fruit, ice cream, and desserts. Definitely worth a walk through the casino, but save it for a day that you're hungry! The hot chocolate fondue station with fresh fruit and pastries was absolutely sinful....

Lord Stow's Bakery/Cafe: Lord Stow's: Definitely Worth the Trip to Coloane

by rachel_simhon

Lord Stow's is a relaxing place to take a simple but superb meal on Coloane. Apart from a daily selction of fresh salads, soups, sandwiches, and quiches, they also have a wide array of organic teas and the best pastries on all of Macau. The actual bakery is a stand-up affair where one orders at the counter, but around the corner you can step into their cafe, where there is a small table area with comfortable chairs and a laid-back ambiance. I could have stayed there all day drinking tea with a book -- it is a wonderful place to enjoy a lazy afternoon on Coloane. The Portugese egg custard tarts are the best in Macau, but my Tiramisu might have been the best of my life, with moist, rum-soaked biscuit crumbs and shaved bittersweet chocolate. Absolute heaven!

A little local establishment catering to many different tyes of dumplings, be it in a light broth or without. I did not like the taste of wonton in salty soya milk dish. However, the other dumplings tastes good.

Nam Peng Cafe

by vincentf

An old-fashioned cafe-style restaurant reminescent of Hong Kong, 20-30 years ago. Try the 'salty' set-meal for MOP19. It consists of a bowl of ham+macaroni in soup, bread, eggs and slices of ham. Top it off with a hot milk-tea. This is a typical breakfast set-meal.

Estabelecimentos de Comidas Kam Tou Un

A real local restaurant catering to fresh seafood and Cantonese style dishes. The portions are large and most dishes are around MOP30 each. I did not try the seafood though. Many locals order seafood such as lobster.
