The first chapel was founded in 1622 by the crew and passengers of a ship which had narrowly escaped capture by the Dutch. The chapel served as a point of pilgrimage for sailors embarking on a hazardous voyage. The chapel was completely rebuilt, along with the Biship’s Palace in 1837. It is open daily from 9am to 5:30pm.

Macau, just like Hong Kong, has a great selection of factory outlets, of which this is one. As with all of them, the selection changes frequently. So if you see something you like, buy it, as it may not be there next time. Labels seen in this shop include Nautica, Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie, A/X, Fred Perry, Balenciaga, Tommy Hilfiger, Cross Creek, Burberry's, DKNY, Perry Ellis, Dolce & Gabbana, Maine, Greg Norman, Next, New Man etc. The selection covers men's, women's and kid's clothing, with a particular emphasis on men's casual shirts and polo shirts. As I said, this is the REALl DEAL, they are not counterfeit as they have been "outsourced" by the international brands to make them here since materials and labor are cheap here!
example is a classic polo ralph lauren polo shirt at 189 Macau Pataca (MOP), Fred Perry Polo Shirts at 160 MOP, Chaps Ralph Lauren at 109 MOP, Nautica Golf Polo Shirts at 139 MOP, Tommy Hilfiger T Shirts at 100 MOP and a lot more! recently this may, I got to visit the store and buy new stuff!

    Open Hours: 10:40am-7pm daily

they accept hong kong dollar, macau pataca, US Dollar, Euro, etc. and Major Credit Cards.

Built on top Colina da Penha or Penha Hill, also known as Bishop Hill because of the Bishop Residence, is a Chapel of Our Lady of Penha which was first built in 1622. The first chapel was erected by the crew and passengers of a ship which had a narrow escape from the Dutch. Later the chapel served as shrine for sailors embarking on often hazardous voyages. The chapel today dates back to 1837 when it was completely rebuilt along with the Bishop's Palace.

The Colina da Penha is otherwise known for Bishop Hill, because the magnificent Bishop's Residence is on the hill. By the side of the Bishop's Residence, there is a St. Mary Hall called Chapel of Our Lady of Penha which was built in 1622. The Chapel is simple, situated in the middle of winding hillpath. The then Colina da Penha was only a fort. Since the dismantlement of the fort in 1892 the Chapel was enlarged up to the grand scale of today. The Bell Tower of the Church is high to the cloud, solemn in silence. The surrounding is picturesque for path in the flowering shrubs and the thick growth of grass, shadowy woods and magnificent buildings. In front of the church there is a high terrace on which stands the statue of Virgin Mary of marble sculpture who folds her two hands, facing the sea with kindly face.

It is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

    I love Beef Jerky!

Established in 1935, Choi Heong Yuen Bakery originally focus on the production of dainty traditional chinese pastries, bridal cakes and moon cakes. After all these years, it has became the most popular "Must Visit" souvenir shop in Macau. It also exports its products to U.S.A., Canada and South East Asia.

In addition to dehydration, usually some other form of preservative is used in the preparation of beef jerky. Smoking was the traditional method, as it preserved, flavored, and dried the meat simultaneously. Salting is the most common method used today, as it both provides seasoning to improve the flavor as well as preserve the meat. While some methods involve applying the seasonings with a marinade, this can increase the drying time by adding moisture to the meat, so methods that use a dry rub are generally faster.

Unpackaged fresh beef jerky made from sliced, whole-muscle meat has been available in specialty stores in Macau at least since the 1970s. The products are purchasable by kilograms, and customers choose from 10 to 20 variations, such as beef or BBQ pork. Some are sold in strands instead of slices. Macau has opened up numerous specialty shops like the Choi Heong Yuen Bakery also, many of which are franchise extensions of stores from Hong Kong. Compared to the sealed packaged versions, unpackaged beef jerky has a relatively short expiration date.

they cost about 68 MOP for 500 grams!

    Me at Senado Square
    by machomikemd, 4 more photos
Leal Senade Square is the focal point and shopping center of Macau. The streets are paved with cobblestone in traditional Portuguese pattern and surrounded by colonial style buildings.

Senado Square has always been the city centre. In the past, this was where the governors inspected military troops and the police force when they took up their posts.Continuous waves of events are held here through-out the year. A must stop in Macau; a lot of tours make this the starting point.

The Leal Senado building St. Dominic Church and the main Postal Office is located here; Largo do São Domingos was named after St. Dominic’s Church and connects Rua de São Domingos, Travessa do Soriano and Largo do Senado. It is a prosperous zone for business and cultural activities alike.

Most of the buildings around Largo do Leal Senado are neoclassical in style and some are Classified Monuments or Classified Buildings of Architectural Interest including the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Building, the Post Office Building and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia.you'll find a lot of bargains as well. The square is especially picturesque at night and during the holidays. Be sure to take notice of all the great architectures here. A favorite spot among locals and tourists.

By the way, it is a bad idea to buy at the antiques shops close to St. Paul's because you will be paying through your nose by about 100 percent.

  • Address: Leal Senado Square
  • Phone: +853.722741
  • Directions: Senado Square is best accessed from Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro on Macau Peninsula. If you have further plans for Macau, visit the tourist information located on the left of the square.

Tracing its roots back to a cart selling only crunchy peanut and ginger candy, Koi Kei established its first shop in 1997 and initiated the trend of making almond cake and egg roll immediately upon customer's request. Currently selling over 300 varieties of product, the most popular items include the almond cake, egg roll, crunchy peanut candy, and fillet of beef and pork.

Though renowned as a traditional shop, Koi Kei is never conservative in product innovation. A new department was set up specially to invent newrecipes, and has surprised the market with its flair in pastries.

Merchandise spills from storefronts onto rickety tables lining the sidewalks. Vendors cook sheets of au jok kohn, a sort of sweet, salty, and deliciously fatty pork jerky, over braziers filled with blazing charcoal but Pasteleria Koi Kei has preserved versions of it which are also tasty but not too salty. they sell at 48 MOP a Pack!
