Bus

by thelittlevoice

It costs 2.5MOP to travel within Macau. Macau- Taipa = 3.3MOP(no.11, 15, 22, 28A, 33, 34)Macau- Coloane = 4MOP, 5MOP if it goes to Hac SaAirport bus = 6MOP(AP1)You can read all about the stations each bus goes to at the bus station, it's in both Chiness and English. It's very convenient to go around by bus. At the bus station, there're both texts in Chinese and English telling the name of each station. However the English text is on the other side of the sign which means you have to pass that station and look back to be able to see it. The best way to do this is count how many stations you have to pass through.

Hong Kong - Macao ferry

by aramat

There is a regular ferry service from Hong Kong to Macao and back. I used TurboJet which was OK, offered many departures every day, left and arrived on time and even let me take an earlier ferry (I booked a very late one back to Hong Kong, but got too tired during the day and wanted to leave an hour earlier). The picture is from TurboJet's site, I can't find mine.

Bridges in Macao

by aramat

Macao is located on a peninsula and two islands - Taipa and Coloane - in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province. The city of Macao is connected to Taipa by two bridges, and Taipa is linked to Coloane by a causeway.

Flying to Macao

by aramat

Macao International Airport was built in 1995 and it is located on Taipa Island, about 15-20 minutes from downtown Macao. Two bridges connect Taipa and the city of Macao on the peninsula. There must be a spectacular view from a plane landing or taking-off (though I arrived by ferry, so I didn't see it).

Walk!

by CandS

We walked almost everywhere...although we did get lost and ended up on a huge hill walking along the edge of a highway...we had to get a taxi back down. There are heaps of taxis (and heaps of scooters) all over the places we went in Macau, I doubt you could ever be short of transport there!!

Turbo Jet Cat

by CandS

We took the Turbo Jet Cat from Hong Kong. It was a nice trip...I had expected to get a little sea sick but I didn't at all! Not much to see along the way but it doesn't take too long to get to Macau (about an hour) which is fine.

by aeroarce

There is an international airport, Tap, air Portugal used to fly there from Lisbonne but i think they don't run any more. Air Macau serve daily from many places in South and East Asia, also from many chinesse cities. there are several Ferries from Hong kong, much easier to fly there and take the ferry they are fast. You can also cross directely to mainland china, and take buses or trains to canton province.

by lihue

Taipa is an international gateway for Macao and the Pearl River Delta. Once a rural retreat, the island now has a runway built on reclaimed land, and is home to the Macao International Airport. Air Macao is the major airline service here, providing regular services to major cities in China, Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, and Europe.

We came in by a high-speed jetfoil (ferry) from Hong Kong. I highly reccommend this... get first class for just a couple dollars more, and then take this quick ferry across the Pacific coast of China. It takes about an hour, which is pretty fast in my opinion, and it's relatively cheap. The thing has a Boeing jet strapped on the back! It feels like you're in a plane, but on water. Hehe.. it was really cool, I have to admit.Pictured here is the ferry terminal in Hong Kong.I think we used every means possible. Taxis are readily available and not too expensive. Buses are everywhere, and they'll take you where you need to go (although know where the bus goes, first). Walking... walking is free and it'll get you where you need to go.

From Hong-Kong: go to the macau ferry Terminal (MTR Chuen Wan) and take at best the jet-ferry. Don't forget your passport, because althought Macau is china (like Hong-Kong) you'ill officially have to leave Hong-Kong and get a Stamp in your pass for macau.
