In Ampang and loads of other places in the country, there seems to be a scam of exploiting young children as well as the blind to beg for money at eateries.
You may think that I'm mean and inhuman by feeling disgusted with what they're doing but I don't think it's fair for any normal citizens to give in to these type of people who are plain lazy to work and beg for money, especially when someone is having a meal or trying to have a conversation with your company.
These people would come to you selling holy items or calenders and ask for money. It truly is a syndicate as they have their bosses waiting at a side somewhere. They would focus in one area such as Ampang Point and they would make their round by visiting patrons of restaurants such as 'mamak' or any other outdoor places and ask for donations. Also, they do not think that it's impolite to ask when someone's eating.
So, don't give in because they're still young, strong and able to work.

There have been numerous cases all over the country where people would be vulnerable to be victims to robberies because of the tactic they used, which is fake policemen. One of the main area where it happened is around Ampang Point.
Be careful of your wallets, purses and belongings! You need to know your rights. These people would sometime wear a Royal Malaysian Police uniform and walk around the area and stops you to ask for identification. Although, they have the authority figure (uniform), it does not mean that you have to obey them.
You have the right not to show them anything and demand for an explanation of why they stopped you in the first place. Secondly, you must also demand to see their Police identification card, which they must produce in order to carry out their duties. Thirdly, if you're not satisfied with their explanation, ask for their branch and call the branch or the HQ in Ampang. The number is stated below.
They are known to snatch your bag or silently steal while you're busy fidgetting with your belongings. Also, they want your Identification Card (IC) or your passports as part of their scams.
I have enclosed the phone number of the Police HQ that's in charge of the area.

Be careful of thieves on a motorcycle whenever you walk around the area of Ampang Point shopping centre. There seems to be lots of cases there that causes serious injury to victims.
The place seems to be packed with people during day and night but it happens regardless of time and crowd. Just be careful!
