Safe and Sound in Malaysia

by ivanchristie

OK, I will tell you exactly what to expect in Malaysia. Just a lot of hot air and empty talk on the political scene. The racial problem is merely mountains made out of little molehills. You and your wife are most welcomed to visitr Malaysia anytime. I bet what you see personally would take away any fears you have now. Trust me !Ivan

Using credit card in Malaysia

by mary2u99

Major credit cards like visa and master card are accepted. If you shop in department store, restaurants and some large chain shop there is no surcharge. But in certain small shop or merchants there will be a minimum surcharge of 2-5%. To be safe ask there if they will charge surcharge first.

Travel in Langkawi, Perlis and Kedah

by jusmtu

Hi,I agree with Alex about the visa things. I just want to add something here is that please do not forget to prepare an umbrella or rain coat when you reaced Penang or Langkawi in November. Because it almost raining day during that time. My advice is if you or your family get into the rain please immediately wash your head as this can give you headache or fever suddenly. Take a good care and have a safe trip. regards,aimanirfan02@yahoo.comhttp://www.malaysiamapforsale.com The people in Malaysia are helpfull and friendly. There are a lot of interesting places in Malaysia everybody should visit, especially Bandar Hilir in Melaka. Melaka is the historical place in malaysia. You cannot say that you had been visited Malaysia if you had not been visit Melaka. Trust me...!!!regards,aimanirfan02@yahoo.comhttp://www.malaysiamapforsale.com

Weather in Malaysia

by arissyam

FYIin Malaysia there are two monsoon which will caused heavy rain during the season and may cause flood. from november until mac, east coast monsoon will blow in rain clouds that brings heavy rains that may cause floods in some parts of Malaysia. during this period peninsular Malaysia east coast, northern coast of Sabah (Kota Kinabalu and Sipadan will only be slightly affected) and inner part of Sarawak will be heavily rain. the peak of the season will be in the month of December as east coast of Malaysia will faced heavy floods. some tourist islands will be closed due to the bad weather. try to avoid peninsular east coast during the period or u might be stranded at the flood aid center.Meanwhile, Malaysia west coast states like Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Langkawi and Singapore will enjoy pretty clear weather. do check the weather forecast when u are travelling...

Response to tips

by kteejones

I think you miss understood Gamarini, I will be going to Malaysia from China, some countries want to know when you are leaving their country and want to see an exit flight from their country. So, I was wondering if, when I go to Malaysia I should have my departure flight from Malaysia already booked? I know they don't mind where I've come from. Thanks

Malaysia: Which coast?

by Potato-Brigade

Both coasts of the countryside and the towns of Malaysia are superb! This is particularly good news because it is generally considered a "fact" that while one coast is experiencing foul weather, the other one is having beautiful weather! Personally, I find ALL of Maylasia wonderful: The country AND the people. Do some internet search before you go, sure, but don't make such plans that cannot be broken. Once you're in Malaysia you will probably hear about something or some place (from other travellers) that is happening "right now". It would be a pity to miss out.Fondest Memory? It was on the road (hitch-hiking) between Penang and the Cameron Highlands where the driver stopped at a road-side stall and treated me to my very first taste of the dreaded Durian. I'm addicted now!

Kota Kinabalu

by mary2u99

I agree with what the other VT said. Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful city but Kota Kinabalu offer the city and also the natural beauty of the forest. Other than climbing Mt Kinabalu you can also go snorkelling and diving too. Climbing Mt Kinabalu and Porim Hot spring.

Things to do in KL

by bkarjee

Every Hotel in KL has a Travel desk near the reception. They will organize local tours for you within KL. They would charge on per person basis and the rates are very reasonable. They will start in the morning and come back in late afternoon. Only downside of this city tour is that they would also take you to unwanted places like choclate factory, Batik factory and some other factory outlets which are basically a gimmick. The guys in the factories expect you to buy few things from them. But it is not compulsory. Only thing is that 1-2 hrs is wasted in this, which could have been better utilized to see other places. In KL, I would recommend going to Petronas tower and KLCC tower (Telecommunication tower) on your own, in a cab. Both these places are in the heart of the city and if you are staying in the heart of the city too, it will be easy to go. Most of the good hotels in KL are in the...

KL, Genting, Langkawi visit in Malaysia

by bkarjee

you can get visa on arrival at KLIA. Be prepared to fork out RM100 per person and stand in a long queue. As regards tips on Langkawi, please see my page on Langkawi and dont forget to take your driving licence. Langkawi is a beautiful place and you can easily spend 3-4 days there. There are numerous direct flights from KL to Langkawi. Try Air Asia and book in advance to get good promotional rates. I stayed in Midah Hotel in KL and First World Hotel in Genting. Both are nice and cheap (less than USD 50). You will be able to book it online. KL-Genting can be done by buses, that depart from Puduraya bus station in heart of the city. The bus ticket fare includes a cable car ride which is a must see. Spend 1 night in genting and maximm 2 nights in KL. Spend rest of the time in Langkawi.

GSM Phones In Malaysia

by gaolei

GSM phones, the most common in Europe, will work in most countries. The trick is to have it unlocked by your phone company before travel. This will allow you to use a foreign SIM card in the phone that you can buy everywhere in Asia.If you have nobody to call in Malaysia, just take your European GSM phone with you. Chances are your phone will work with local malaysian networks. Just check with your phone company to see if you need to have foreign roaming activated.Phone calls will be expensive, but if your family has to reach you, they will just call your local number in Europe and it will ring wherever you are in the world. This is the beauty of GSM.
