Visa on arrival in Malaysia

by bkarjee

It is true that Malaysian VOA for Indian Passport holders is available only in 2nd Link. It is not available in Woodland Checkpoint. I can't tell you whether Malaysian Immigration will issue you the Malaysian visa twice within a week. My guess is that as long as you have the return ticket to India with you, you should not have any problem in getting the Malaysian Visa within a week. SO while returning from Singapore to Malaysia, make sure your bus goes via 2nd Link. Many bus go via woodland check point.Alternatively, apply for Malaysian Visa through Malaysian Embassy during your stay in Singapore. They take 3 days to process your visa. You may approach Mustapha Travels next to Mustapha in Singapore. They are authorized travel agents for Malaysian Visa in Singpore

Strongly recommend Travel Agent

by pierrevalentinoux

I just came back from Malaysia trip. We had a 11 days trip to the cities, jungle and island. The best part was the travel agent accompanied us to all over and make us a friends. Their entertainment were superb. The best Travel Agent that I ever had. Not all travel agents can do that, try this one Tempro Trans Holiday and Tours from Kuala Lumpur. We really enjoy our trip and have a great time with them. (Not everyone manage to come here unless u get an experience travel agent)white water rafting in Benta, Pahang.

Malaysia tips

by kelnsha

For Malaysia, party and nightlife will be best spent in Kuala Lumpur. You can immerse in native cultures at Sarawak or Sabah. As for your delicious gastronomy, you can try either at Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru or Penang. You can find beautiful beaches at the eastern coast of Peninsula Malaysia (eg. Pulau Perhentian Besar or Kecil, Pulau Lang Tengah, Pulau Redang & Pulau Tenggol). Pulau Lang Tengah, Pulau Tenggol and some other smaller islands are probably of the islands that you'll not find foreign people there. Scuba diving course can be taken at any of the above mentioned islands. Hope you'll enjoy your stay in Malaysia. It has to be their beaches and underwater world!

Cities

by chrisrandonneur

I would take you to the Petros tower, I visited my University pal in Malaysia on a stopover from Australia. Firstly the city never sleeps, and its so noisy and polluted.I had something like 48 hours. When I landed I planned to ring him but I couldn't work the phones. Remember when you arrive in these places don't just stand there like a dummy someones looking to rob you, so walk confidently somewhere where you are not.Fortunately my mate turned up, we put my bicycle in his boot and off we went. It was night and he was finding a place to park, I said theres a guy over there showing you a parking space, he ignored him, why, because some guy shows you a parking space its all very friendly then the guy wants paying, and they don't want a quid or a few pence for afew seconds work, no they want a note, oh a tenner will do.It was late and we were sweating like in a sauna, my friend more than...

Indigenous tribes

by DanielF

There are still several tribes that live according to their ancestral traditions and to the laws of Nature in the jungles of Malaysia, mostly in the insular states of Sabah and Sarawak. They have preserved their own languages and seem to cope well with the galloping modernisation that the country is experiencing. In Sarawak, they also seem to have found the way to get benefits from tourism, as they are glad to receive tourists and partake in a cultural exchange which, so far, seems to be beneficial to both sides.

Chinese community

by DanielF

Successive immigration waves from different regions of Southern China have resulted in flourishing Chinese communities across Malaysia, mainly in the former "Straits settlements". The interaction with the Malay people along the years has resulted in a particular culture of the Malay Chinese: the Peranakan culture, which can be experienced in the colourful Chinatowns of several cities like Melaka, Penang and even Kuala Lumpur.

Echoes from across the Gulf of Bengala

by DanielF

An important Indian community has settled in many cities and towns in Malaysia too. They came originally mostly from Southern India and brought with them their religion and their peculiar, hooror vacui-type constructive style. This picutre shows a detail of the Hindu temple at the Batu cave, near Kuala Lumpur.

Asian melting pot

by DanielF

In Malaysia traces can be found from aboriginal cultures along with many of the great Asian civilisations as well as from the European colonialists: Portuguese, Dutch and mostly British. All these influences seem to blend with the dominant Muslim culture and, at the same time, coexist in parallel worlds that make of Malaysia such a fascinating and intriguing land to explore.

Striving for modernity

by DanielF

Today, Malaysia is determined to fully join the Western world. If this modernisation at any cost may result in a significant loss of charachter, as it already happens in Kuala Lumpur, it has also its good side, because the excellent facilities and infrastructures allow to enjoy exotism without suffering the pains of travelling in other developping countries. On the other hand, some areas of the country are still very conservative and very zealous of their distinct Muslim culture, which acts as a counterbalance for the preservation of the country's identity.
