Flower fountain at Genting Highlands, Malaysia
2 more images

Favorite thing: There is an impressive outdoor fountain and flower nursery just next to the outdoor theme park. You cannot miss it because there are so many colourful and huge flowers on dispaly. Due to the cool and dry climate of Genting Highlands, there are many temperate plants and flowers which are grown here which are otherwise not possible in the tropical and humid weather of Malaysia. This is not to be missed and more photographs are at the travelogue section of this VT page.

Favorite thing: More photos of my trip to Genting Highlands about 20 years ago. My family and I still visit this place periodically, especially my mother and relatives who go there very often, mainly to the casino :)

Genting Highlands years ago, Malaysia
4 more images

Favorite thing: I have been to Genting Highlands several times since I was young (about 10 years old) and have seen the tranformation and expansion of the place into a huge entertainment centre. Genting Highlands is perhaps my first travel out of Singapore as my family could not afford trips to destinations too far away from Singapore then. Genting Highlands has always been a favourite place for the locals as well as Singaporeans who went there mainly for the casino (for the adults) and the various games, rides, arcades (for the children). Genting Highlands always upgrade itself and expand and this is a very good move to attract repeated tourists back here as there is always something new coming up. Attached are some photos of Genting Highlands about 20 years ago when I visited during my younger days :)

Ghosts of casino

Favorite thing: Addicted gamblers of Malaysia very much believe the casino has countless miniature ghosts in invisible form which the owner trained to make gamblers lose money. I dislike gamble but I enjoy telling this ghost’s story to tourists, hehehe. Head must be covered with newspaper when entering the casino of Genting so they (little ghosts) won’t notice your existence, and you will win. Bring sweets to feed them (little ghosts). Sprinkle sweets underneath where you play, to feed them (little ghosts), this way, you sure win. Try shouting the name of the casino owner Mr. Lim Goh Tong, it will help as well. A tip for cureless gamblers.

Corkscrew

Favorite thing: Corkscrew is the only double-loop roller coaster in Malaysia that speeds and spins up to a height of 90 feet above the ground.

Hold on tight as you dive, plunge and escalate on the Corkscrew.

There is a minimum height requirement of 122cm (4 feet).

Cyclone

Favorite thing: Cyclone is a rollercoaster with "big" thrills!

The is a minimum height requirement of 122cm (4 feet) to take the rollercoaster.

It is a very intense ride that may not be suitable for those who are faint-hearted.

The cyclone or Zyklone Z40 was built in Pinfari, Italy.

The thrills last for about 1 minute.

Genting

Favorite thing: Genting has a soothing climate unlike the hot and humid conditions in Kuala Lumpur. There is a large amusement park and casino built here.

You can take the 1-hour taxi ride from Kuala Lumpur for around RM45-60, pending on the taxi driver's mood.
