For outdoor excitement, the resort has an outdoor pond with boats and a horse ranch with riding for all levels of experience.
For somewhat less excitement (but better photo ops) the cable car ride down the mountain from the resort offers aerial views of the Malaysian jungle. A one-way fare is RM3 (US$0.79) for adults and children; Sunday to Thursday 8am to 7:30pm and Friday and Saturday 8am to 8:30pm.
Additional facilities include a bowling alley and an indoor heated pool. The Awana Golf and Country Club (tel. 03/211-3025; fax 03/211-3535) is the premier golf course in Genting.
Below, were some photos from our rides...
The rides weren't that good. The metals were banging like crazy !
We enjoyed it nonetheless.
Do I write like a kindergarten kid ?
Yes I do...because that's how I felt it when I was up there in Genting Highland !
To get away from the noise and people, I would suggest that you do a around-the-park walk. It is basically walking around the entire genting highlands. Just follow the road and your natural directional abilities.
The walk can get cold at night, so bring a jacket.
Genting Highlands has to be seen to be believed! It's unlike anything else I've seen!!
There are plenty of hotels to stay in, ranging from cheap 3 star, to 5 star. Although the 5 star rooms are not all that great!!! But still ok!!! Oh yeah, and don't be shocked that none of the rooms offer air-con, as the climate is much cooler up there, so you don't need one!!
The cablecar trip up the mountain is long..... they do have scenery to look at, and statues etc... set up along the way for viewing entertainment..... so make sure it's not too cloudy a day... or all you see if white clouds around you... and the trip is boring. The long trip is worth the experience.... but nothing you cant live without doing!! But you can always catch a taxi up the moutnain if your in a hurry!
There are plenty of places to eat up there, from basic takeaway (Burger King, KFC, McDonalds) to restaurants (Italian, Japanese). And most of the hotels offer 24 hours room service too!!
Oh yeah.. the CASINO! Malaysia only casino. This is ok too. Bigger than I expected!! It's okay (I'm not a gambler, so wasn't impressed).
There is also a theme park at the top of the mountain too!!!
And a shopping arcade (with a fair few outlet shops too), and the areas are themed. I think (If I recall correctly) there is also a snow doom there, where your kids can play in the snow?!
There are also plenty of arcade game areas to entertain the kids!!!!
Something for everyone!!!!! But check out their website for more details!!! Only approx. 1 hour from KL city! (bus details should be on their website), plus it's not very expensive to catch a taxi either!!!!
This so call educational ride looks promising from the outdise but turn out to be nothing much then a leisurely ride on a boat to see robotic dinosours. I personally think that it is more of a tourist trap then a must see in Genting Highlands, more so as it might take up to 45 minutes to queue to see this "attraction".
Probably I am too old for this but my advise is give it a miss if you have other things to do or rides to try while in Gentinmg Highlands.
I was lucky in this trip to Genting Highland. There's a Roti Canai making at First World Plaza. Competitors showed their skill to swing the flour with music played. It was cool!
Roti Canai is one of the most famous Indian bread (it is one of my favourite food in Malaysia!!). If you want to know how a Roti Canai is made, let the pictures tell you. Enjoy!
Gohtong Jaya is a Small town located at the base of the Genting Highlands and was named after Mr. Tan Sri Goh tong, the Founder of the Resorts World Group around the World and of the Genting Highlands. This is just a small towship with one hotel and some shops and restaurants and the main draw here is a specialty chocolate shop called Chcolate Gallery (by Cocoa Boutique, a chain of Malaysian Chocolate Shops and they sell really exotic chocolate hybrids such as curry chocolate and durian chocolate). All Tour Buses and Vans pass by here for some rest stop and for tourists to buy chocolates and more at the Cocoa Boutique ( I may add this as a tourist trap hehehe). From here it takes about 5 minutes to the Genting Skyway and beyond to Genting Highlands.
the Chin Swee Caves Temple is a stop going to the Genting Highlands Complex and there are complementary Shuttle Buses to and from the Complex to various hotels in the Genting Highlands and the older Awana Genting Skyway has a stop here where you can hop off for a jaunt inside. The place is just a 5 minute drive going down from the Genting Highlands The Chin swee caves temple is a Taoist temple dedicated to Reverend Master Chin Swee who was a famous figure especially in Fujian Province of China in the 11th century and the founder of the Genting High Lands, the taipan Tan Sri Goh Tong and his parents are ardent devotees of this taoist Deity hance the Making of the Temple. There are lots of activities for taoist devotees and for tourist inside the complex.
entrance to the temple complex is free

according to their website:
The Chin Swee Caves Temple is situated in the most scenic site of Genting Highlands. Within the Temple is seated a black statue of the Reverend Master Chin Swee who has long been referred to as a deity in Fujian Province for his supernatural abilities to summon rain and drive away evil spirits. The Temple attracts many local and foreign devotees from Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and China.
The Chin Swee Caves Temple is situated on a 28-acre plot of rocky forested land donated by Genting Group founder the late Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lim Goh Tong. Located 4,600 feet above sea level, the Temple is about 5–10 minutes’ drive down from the peak of the mountain
the assorted water rides at the outdoor theme park, the water themed rides at the park include the famous Pirate Ship at the big lagoon in the middle of the outdoor theme park, the Sungai Rejang Flumke Ride where you will have a 60 feet drop from a lazy boat ride and get soaking wet. There is also the Bumper Boats in the big lagoon and the line here is long plus a separate boat ride where you will paddle around the lagoon amidst the fog as it gets foggy here at the Genting Highlands. You can repeat the ride here since you have bought an unlimited 1 day all park pass so enjoy the Water Based Rides in the Outdoor Theme Park Now.
A must-try is to take a cable car ride down and up the slopes of the highlands. Ticket prices are discounted for certain hotel guests presenting their hotel cards. If not, tickets can be bought at the station for just low prices.
The views are simply fantastic as you make your way through the dense forested areas. Do bring your camera along for great shots.
For a bird eye view of the outdoor theme park in Genting Highlands, take the Theme Park Skyway for a 5 minutes journey accross the men made lake. Don't fret if its stop halfway, its part of the "trill" of the ride.
final part of my tips
It is only one of the 8 overseas attraction around the world of Ripley's Believe it or Not Group. the Theme Park is located at the Second Level of the First World Plaza and it features various oddities and kitchy items, persons, things and more that Ripley Collected from his travels around the world in the 1930's and more recently updated facts and oddities after his death. most are recreations but some of the items are the original stuff. they also have interactive displays. It has 11 themed areas inside this two story complex.
