Cut short in Cable car que

    by masum11 Written Apr 14, 2007 3 reviews

Availing Bus/Cable car is always a cheaper alternate to Taxi. It is more interesting too! However, you'll find a l-o-o-o-o-ng queue for cable car which compels tourists to take taxies. You'll be glad to know that you can get into a cable car cutting short the queue!! How?

Buy a return ticket right after you get down from bus on your way to Genting, before you ride on the cable car. When you come back, just show the ticket to the guards beside the queue, the'll put you in front of the line so that you don't miss the bus!!

This is an inexpensive, fast and convenient way of getting to Genting. Besides that, the ride offers you an unparalled paranomic view of the rainforest as it makes its way up or down. Because of the high altitude, the spiraling ride by bus instead can be rather uncomfortable to people who are susceptible to motion sickness.

Cable cars going up Genting Higlands, Malaysia

The final part of the journey up Genting Highlands involve taking the cable-car. Coaches ferrying tourists used to be able to go up the mountain but this was stopped years ago because of accidents on the steep and winding road going up the mountain. The cable car journey is scenic (see photos at this page travelogue section) and takes about 15 minutes one way. The cost of the cable car is usually included in the price you pay for the entire package (i.e. coach, hotel and cable car). There are very long queues during weekends and public holidays so do take note.

Coach going to Genting Highlands, Malaysia

If you are at Singapore and want to spend a few days at Genting Highlands, the best way is to approach the travel agencies in Singapore as there are many tour packages to Genting Highlands (as this is one of the favourite place which Singaporeans visit). Usually the tour package will include 2-3 nights stay at a hotel at Genting Highlands, plus the air-conditioned coach and cable car ride up the mountain. The coaches are comfortable and there are now some coaches with massage chairs, games, entertainment etc. The journey (one way) takes about 6 hours depending on traffic jams especially at the Singapore-Malaysia causeway. The tour package will cost about Singapore $200.

    VIP coach

Easiest way is buying a package tour from a Travel Agent in Singapore. You can find them everywhere at tourist places. I bought a 2D1N package tour of Gunung Raya Travel Pte Ltd in Beach Road, it costs only 79 S$ per person wiz VIP coach & good hotel. It takes abt 5 hours & you can have a big nap on ze way :)
