We rented a car in Shah Alam and drove from there to Kuala Selangor. The traffic was very heavy until we got away from Shah Alam and there were not many road signs.
We had no problem after we got to Kuala Selangor.
From Kuala Selangor we drove to the airport, dropped our car off there, and flew to Pulau Penang.
- Road Trip
There are a few ways to get to Kuala Selangor which includes buses and taxis that leave regularly from KL's Puduraya bus station.
Our transport came as a part of a package deal, departing from our KL accommodation, with MM Adventures on the Kuala Selangor Firefly Tour.
Because there was only myself and my two teenage kids we travelled there in Mike's gold Mercedes. Michael is the owner of MM Adventures and will use either a mini van or his own Merc depending on the tour numbers.

Boats to see the fireflies
The reason why we went to Kuala Selangor is that we wanted to see the fireflies. Every night, hundreds of fireflies come to the mangrove in search of a partner and turn the bushes into a kind of Christmas trees.
The only way to see this show of nature is by one of the boats that you can get from a small jetty near Kuala Selangor.
