JB Gateway to Singapore

by SLLiew

There used to be a special limited Malaysian passport used by Malaysians going to Singapore regularly. Many live in Malaysia which has lower cost of living and work in Singapore for higher salary and better currency exchange rate. However, this special passport has been discontinued and every Malaysian has to use a Malaysian international passport. Also for Malaysian, bring your Mykad too in Singapore. The Mykad number is required in the arrival form.Several times when I crossed the Causeway to Singapore by bus, there is no check on Malaysian passport holders and due to the large number of Malaysian crossing, we were waved through. So the screening is done at the Singapore Immigration side.

What is Second Link?

by SLLiew

Second Link is the second bridge from Johor to Singapore. It is the alternative to using the closer but busier Causeway to get from JB to Singapore Woodlands. If you are going to Jurong or Western side of Singapore Island, then the Second Link will be closer. The Causeway is a vital link between to JB and Singapore. Besides commuters, land travellers and cargoes, the Causeway also carry a railway line and water pipes. There is no plan for a Third Link. But there has been years of controversy between Malaysia and Singapore of replacing the Causeway with a bridge. A plan of a Crooked Bridge has been abandoned.

Sandcastle Mania!

by sklc

The beaches on the East Coast of Johor are a fun place for the family. Often frequented by Singaporeans, it would only do justice to Johor if I as a Malaysian would visit it too. The best memory I have of my trip to Desaru Perdana Beach Resort would be the Sandcastle Competition. We came out champs. That's us Flintstones!
