AEON Tebrau City Shopping Centre: New megamall in Johor Bahru

Residents of Johor Bahru have every reason to do more shopping. A brand new mega shopping mall, Tebrau City, opened in Johor Bahru in January 2006. With 3 floors of mid to high end retail shops and restaurants, Tebrau City is now the main draw of Johoreans during weekends. The anchor departmental store, Jusco, sells everything that you would normally expect in a departmental store - supermarket, men's and ladie's clothes, furniture, household items, sports equipment etc.
On the third level are many restaurants serving various types of food - Malaysian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and fast food.

What to buy: At Tebrau City Shopping Center, you can get anything that you need for your household under one roof.

What to pay: Prices are reasonable for a departmental store.

    Angsana Shopping Complex.: Malay fashion.

    by A2002 Updated Dec 10, 2002

If you want to buy kebaya, sarong, songkok, etc, and other Malay fashion, there are a number of shops in Angsana. There's also a wedding photography shop for a Malay wedding there. Go have a look.
For food when you are hungry, there are more selections at the basement. Usual fast food restaurants, such as, KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, are clustered togather.
I personally like shopping there. Usually I will shop for groceries there or just have a walk around.

What to buy: I usually buy my groceries here since it is near my home in JB. It is not very expensive and not so crowded.

    Kotaraya.: Shopping

    by A2002 Updated Nov 23, 2004

Kotaraya is another shopping mall just beside Pan Pacific hotel. It is one of the nearest to the causeway and is within walking distance if you know the way.

Public buses from Singapore will stop at Kotaraya Terminal. This shopping complex is within walking distance from the bus terminal.

Johor Bahru Duty Free Complex: Duty free shopping

by Pomska Updated Aug 8, 2005

This complex was very empty when I visited it. I didn't fancy anything in it. I don't know if there was some reason why the complex was so dull and empty at that time. It didn't impress me at all. All the goods looked like they are old stuff.

It is one of the largest duty free complexes in the world and it's 2 km from the Causeway.

What to pay: It should be duty free prices.

    City Square

by Pomska Updated Aug 8, 2005

This shopping mall is, as far as I know, a quite new mall in JB. This is also the nearest mall if you are entering JB from Singapore via the Causeway.

There are couple of good stores but nothing special (especially comparing to those in Singapore).

    City Square: Budget Shopping

by Abiummi Written Oct 29, 2004

The Johor Area Rehabilitation Organisation (JARO) features handicrafts and artwork made by physically disabled inmates. Here, one can buy reasonably priced hand-made cane furniture, soft toys, rattan baskets and customised book-binds. Within the same compound next door, the Perbadanan Handicraft Center offers songket cloth, batik and pottery made in-house for sale. A state-sponsored venture, JARO has done much good for the less fortunate through its rehabilitative shelter and workshop programme.

What to buy: You can buy almost everything here. For instance, I'm incouraging you to buy the Batik. Lee Tai Meng, a former deaf inmate, left JARO to become one of Malaysia's most accomplished batik artists.

    What to pay: Below $25.

One of the Mega store just acrosas the border, sounds like the shopping heaven for Singaporean as the price is almost half of the price sold in SIngapore.
