    Car racing at Pasir Gudang.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I know a friend who likes car racing in Malaysia. There's a circuit available for a fee for private use of the circuit. Maybe it will be of interests to some car enthusiasts.

"Also called the Johor Racing Circuit, this is a well-used 3.86-kilometre track which continues to see a great deal of racing action. It currently hosts the annual World Superbike Championship, the World Endurance Race and the Johor Racing Series for motorcycles and cars. It is also open for a fee to private motor sport enthusiasts who wish to experience the thrills and spills of driving their machines at high speed in the relative safety of a racetrack."

    GOLF IN PARADISE.....PERFECT!

by Rollyberkin Updated Oct 19, 2004

As you pass through the main gates, you cannot help but to notice this huge white imposing building sitting on top of a hill. This is the club house of Austin Hills Country Club. A 360 degrees panoramic view of most of the fairways of the golf course is visible from here.
There are two 18 holes courses, namely the Austin Course and the Hills Course.
All the tee boxes are elevated and there are quite a few holes which one has to drive across intimidating ravines to arrive on the fairways proper.
I must at least mention something about the changing rooms. Walking into the changing room here is like walking into a night club. You become awashed in darkened cool colors minus the music. It's an experience not to be forgotten.
The club have from time to time special promotion rates for walk in visitors. It is wise to check with the club on this, you many save a few ringgit.

The 18-holes par 72 course plays to 3,218m on each of the nines making it an average course length of 6,306m for the blue tees... The fairway is of cow grass and is of fairly acceptable condition... The most scenic and challenging holes are the two par 3s #7 and #15 which plays to island greens...

The clubhouse is very basic but looks very futuristic and impressive with the golfer's terrace overlooking the finishing hole... The changing room need a renovation though... The buggy rate for non-members is RM66 inclusive of tax... The buggy also need an urgent upgrade...

    Austin Hills: Golf Driving Range

    by Aidy_p Updated Feb 13, 2008
Ally and I at the driving range

I'm no Tiger Woods and I own no golf clubs and shoes, but what a kick I got at the driving range. No pun intended, but I'd be totally handicapped if I'd gone on the green. So the driving range at Austin Hills allowed me to imagine that within me is a professional golfer...NOT!

Fact: This is one golf course that is just 20 minutes drive from the Singapore-Johore causeway. Lovely lovely green, even for the driving range. Costing just RM8 for 100 balls, you can really shoot till your hearts content.

This is the latest golf club to open in the Johor Baru area, and located in Nusajaya township which is part of the Iskandar Development Region... The 18-holes par-72 course is designed by Ross Watson... Water plays a major part in this course, with water coming into play in almost all the holes... The course plays to 5,951m from the blue tees... The outgoing UEM Nine plays to 3,020m while the incoming Gamuda Nine to 2,931m... Water hazards aside, the course is well defended by the many bunkers scattered strategically over the layout... The sand is rather fine and soft making it extremely difficult to get out... As the trees are not matured yet, being a new course, the fairways are bare and hot when the sun is up in the sky...

Equipment: The clubhouse is hugh and perched on a small hill looking over the golf course... Its facilities befits a 5* establishment... There is the normal men and ladies changing rooms as well as the golfer's terrace... There is also a small pro-shop... Other facilties are not yet in place when we visited the course in early August 2008 as it was just opened for a few weeks...

Green fee including buggy is RM150 (for weekday mornings), RM170 (for weekday afternoons), RM250 (for Saturday all-day), RM220 (for Sunday & Public Holiday mornings), RM170 (for Sunday & Public Holiday afternoons)... Public Holiday rate is applicable for both Malaysian and Singapore public holidays... All rates are nett... The course is closed on Mondays for maintenance...
