While on our half day tour of Johor Bahru we stopped at this impressive building. Although unable to go inside we were able to walk all around the outside. It was built by Sultan Abu Bakar who, by all reports, was rather taken with England's Queen Victoria, hence the similarities with English castles.
If you wander around to the other side of the building it's a lovely spot to sit for awhile and realise that you can see Singapore across the causeway.

This temple is one of the most prominent features of the Johor Bahru skyline. It makes a neat contrast to the nearby concrete and glass of the shopping malls and hotels. You can basically walk around JB in a couple of hours and this is a good reference point. I never went inside but I found myself walking past it several times.
There are a large number of vendors by the temple selling flowers, spices and Indian handicrafts. Visitors are permitted and the temple is open from 6am to 9pm every day.

Danga bay is for couples or a group of close friends, and for family nite out, parents v kids as well. U should go Danga Bay around 6/7pm in the evening, then u can enjoy a nice romantic evening at the bay.
Danga Bay is new, with a lot of international restaurants. If u r looking for sth more layman-ly(cheaper), go for the food court food. Thai Fragrance Coconut Juice & Satay is delicious, yummy..
U can take a train ride, it's really sweet if u hv ur lover besides, a group of close friends will do as well. =D Train ride is only Rm1! U can take a horse ride as well, it's Rm6 per person, i find it rather expensive so we go for a walk on the beach. It's really sweet when u go on a nice weather day, u can see the moon & the stars. =)
The day that i went Danga Bay, a group of ppl were having a party at one of the open air restaurant - titicaca (not sure abt the name). I find a very good idea, bcz u hv d sea view, nice food, & a good location.
Cheers~

JB has good shopping place for DVDs but not CDs. One should check out City Square -'Ohhlala' located at 1st/2nd floor located near the escalator & 'Fire DVD' shop at LG29 Holiday plaza. U can find a lot of Rock Concert DVDs of Western Rock stars, u stand a chance to find it here if what u r looking for is hard-to-find, they are cheaper than KL, Ohhlala is slightly expensive compares to Holiday Plaza JB .
These guys who sells videos CDs at these shops, they r professional, tell them what kind of movies u like, they'll be able to give u a lot of correct movie suggestions. And these videos are good qualities. One can find a lot of foreign movies here in Holiday Plaza as well. Those u cant find anywhere else bcz they r not popular, I'm talking bat those that r rare & in good video quality, not those which is in the cinema & hot in town.

Shopping is one of the favourite past time.
Singaporeans will travel all the way for hours just to shop at our neighbouring country.
City Square is located about 1km from the causeway.
Lots of shops selling clothing, shoes, hair saloon, restaurants, fast food, cinema, tibits shops and even a Singapore Visitors Centre.
Money Changer is located at level one near the optical shop.

My trip was different, cant tell any got spot or places that 'must see activity'. Its more to agricultural things so I hope you guys dont mind about telling those things.. and yet I have limited information too.
We went to the Duty Free Zone Area.. they have shopping mall. Not that big and they selling branded names and some not and I dont see big difference in term of the duty free and the normal price..

Our first stop was at Desaru Fruit Farm near to the tip of Johore State - Penggarang as it is known. The farm boasts of a few hectares of fruit trees, mostly honey lemon which grows plentifully on the trees and riped for plucking. But signages warned of a fine of RM 500....As the bus entered the farm, a guide gave a briefing on the fruit trees available at site - dragon fruit trees are now being planted, jackfruits are nurtured to make sure that they grew to over 5 kgs?, durians, mangoes, rambutans. Then there were enclosures for fowls, ostrich, birds..
Recently the farm also started selling honey which I believe was harvested elsewhere. Gentlemen, - do you know that they now have honeyed `tongkat ali', the so-called natural Viagra. It comes in a full bottle costing about S$80.
Our next stopover is at the Ostrich Farm in the vicinity of Penggarang. You can stand on the ostrich egg to see if it breaks, touch them and ride on Tom if you like - kids would love to do that... .You can also feed them with corn readily available for RM1.00. Ah, talking of food, we had a good lunch with lobster at a seafood restaurant in Penggarang.
Now comes the highlight of the tour. After dinner, we put on our life jackets and went on a motor-boat berthed at the river near to Kota Tinggi Town. By 7.30 pm, the place is dark. As we near to the fireflies haunt by the river, we strained our necks to see them...`Look there, there.`` ~ we turned and looked. A tiny fickle of light sparkled. Then we saw them - a swarm of tiny sparkles, like our lighted Christmas trees. Another swarm of sparkles. Suddenly, one strayed into our boat. We tried to look at it close-ranged but the light faded and all we could see was a dark insect, like a big ant...
