Since it rained the whole time we were at Endau Rompin, we didn't go for the night walk. Instead, we sat around the fire and grew fatter by the minute as the Orang Asli cooked meal after meal on the glowing hot coals and served it to us. The most delicious item that day was the BBQ chicken wings. Yum. there is nothing like hot food on a cold day.

You really cannot avoid hearing the sound of fireworks and especially the fire-crackers that would be played at night, and even past midnight. This is especially true during the first few days and the last few days of Chinese New Year. Don't be too surprised to be woken up at 3 am, by loud fire crakers firing away.
What can I say: if you can't beat them, join em!

During Chinese New Year, children love to play with fireworks and firecrackers. The tradition begin long ago in China when loud noises and the colour red was used to scare away the evil monster and thus save the children from being eaten...or so the story goes. Firecrakers continue to be a popular way to bless houses or new offices and are still prevalent in smaller towns in Malaysia.
For several years there has been a ban in Malaysia and Singapore on the sale of firecrakers. This is because of the number of firecraker related burns and severe injuries caused by accidents or due to misuse of firecrackers. Nevertheless, while there has been a crackdown and the ban is certainly enforced in Malaysian cities, the children in smaller towns seem to have no difficulty buying them and can be seen playing with them during the major festivals.

Most places in JB are closed by 9 or 10 pm. So if you want to bring the family out for a late night snack, try McDonald's at Jalan Tebrau. It is next to Carrefour. It is also a drive through. I've noticed that this place is full of activity at supper time!
Dress Code: Come as casual as you like, just don't be too indecent!
