Oh yes, you can fly to Tioman using Berjaya Air only. They fly from Subang Airport (the old International airport) but their frequency and schedule are not entirely reliable.Taxi is very expensive from KL-Mersing. Around RM400-RM600 for a 1-way trip. The bus only cost you about RM25 per person per way.Most of the resorts in Tioman is closed now for the monsoon (Nov-Feb). 1 night stay in Tioman is not enough. Stay at least 2 nights.
If you are taking an express bus using the PLUS North South Highway from Penang, Ipoh or Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru or Singapore, it will usually stop for a rest for the driver and passengers in one of the several bus station stops off the highway at Machang or Yong Peng.The food served are not the best but are halal (for Muslim). Using the PLUS North South Highway, it is about 4 hours to drive from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru - from KL to JB. When you reach JB, there can be a 20-30 minutes jam during the rush hours. Entry to Endau Rompin National Park was honestly, quite a pain in the ass. Literally! Not only do you have to endure a two hour bum-rotting ride from Bekok , you have to get a special permit from the National Park (Johor) Corporation, which only allows access to designated campside areas. But it is well worth the pain as it is FUN traversing through oil palm plantations and dense jungle tracks as you'll see mounds of elephant poo along the way, marvel as your vehicle makes it across a rickety bridge over and sigh with relief when you reach a beautiful camp beside a fast flowing river. Just take note that you need to have a 4x4 to do off-roading. If you don't have one contact a tour agent to bring you there.
I took a train from Singapore Keppel Train Station to Bekok, a sleepy town somewhere in the depths of Johor. It cost me only RM6. From Bekok, we met our local tour guide who took us to the heart of Endau Rompin in a 4x4.
If you are travelling between Singapore and Johor by bus, bear in mind you have to keep the ticket on hand.From Johor to Singapore, you have to get off from the bus twice, at the Malaysian Immigration and Singapore Immigration, after the custom, you need the ticket to return to the bus, don't havd to be the same bus but has to be the same company and route. If you lost the ticket, you might ask to purchase another ticket.
From Larkin Bus Station, you will see several bus company operating the route to Singapore. Causeway Link, SBS, SJE and so on... To get to the Singapore city area, normally I would suggest to take SJE - Singapore Johor Express which is going directly to the Queen Street Terminal non stop. It is close to Bugis MRT station. The bus fare is RM2.40 from Larkin, however it is SGD 2.40 from Singapore to Larkin.
