Well, if you are thinking about going to Langkawi via Kuala Lumpur and still haven't commit on any date yet. Just browse at www.airasia.com and just keep clicking date by date to look for a promotions air fare from LCCT, KLIA to Langkawi. The cheapest fare that i had ever hooked was the RM9.90 (to) and RM9.90 (fro). Even travelling by bus is not as cheap as this offer. Do not sure whether the offer is still available or not, but Air Asia is the local Malaysia Low Cost Airline. Of course the airfare offered does not inclusive of RM35.00 airport tax per person but still it is considered value for money as it is fast compared to land transport that will take at least 6 to 7 hours just to reach the Kuala Kedah Jetty.
As Air Asia is a budget airline, do not expect much in high quality service. They do not even allocate a seat number. Once boarding the aircraft, you are freely to choose where to sit. This is a disadvantage to traveller that travel with family as you might sit separately from your family members or couple if the flight is fully packed or if your'e late in quequing to board the flight. Once the airplane has reach certain level, the crew members will start to push a trolley and start selling drinks, foods and souvenirs. The male crew dress in black uniform while the stewardess are all in red.
The newest aircraft is the Airbus which is very comfy and cooling but their old plane the Boeing 737 is kinda looks old in the inside and its very humid until you may sweat all along the journey.
The LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) is situated nearby the KLIA. The journey from KLIA will takes around 15 minutes drive. Its a basic terminal. Not very impressive in building structures and amenities.
Nevertheless, the important thing is your travel is safe and fast.

and Penang by Malaysian Airlines or from Singapore direct by SilkAir.

Road: The journey takes about 8-9 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Kedah while to Kuala Perlis (also from Kuala Lumpur) the journey takes about 10 hours. For those who travel by car, tourist car parks are available at Kuala Kedah
and Kuala Perlis. Then board an express boat or ferry to Langkawi where local transport like buses, taxis and car rental are available at Langkawi Kuah Jetty.

Rail: Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) provides comfortable and inexpensive rail service, from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar (Kedah) and Arau (Perlis). From Alor Setar/Arau you can take a taxi or bus to Kuala Kedah/Kuala Perlis and from there by express ferry to Langkawi.

Ferry Schedule: There is a luxurious high-speed ferry shuttle service providing scheduled crossings between the mainland: Kuala Kedah/Kuala Perlis and Langkawi (Kuah Jetty). The trip takes about one hour.

Take taxis or hire a car. Taxis are convenient means of transportation for travellers in Langkawi, available from taxi stands located at various part of Kuah town, hotels/resort, Kuah Jetty and at the airport. Langkawi taxis do not use meters. Visitors are advised to find out the fare before boarding depending on the destination travel. Or alternatively, like I used to arrange for hire van or car to take us to the places we want to visit. Discuss and agree on the fare and the no. of places you want to visit. The airport is located is an open part of the island and when rain is too heavy, flights have been known to be diverted back to Penang.
Otherwise, a not so busy airport that also host the biennal Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition. Theme: Airplane

We took an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) to Langkawi. We booked nearer to our flight schedule so we only got RM89.99 per person (excluding taxes and fees). But if you book earlier, you can get your tickets for as low as RM39.99!!! Is that a good deal or what?
Our flight was scheduled for 1510 but when we got there, the flight was delayed and we had to board the plane at 1900 already! Imagine, waiting for three hours for a flight that lasts an hour only.
The aircraft is a Boeing 737. There are snacks served aboard but it is not free.
I suggest you don't take this flight if you have connecting flight. AirAsia is known for it's unreliability and delayed flights. But it is value for money. Leave a Comment
