  • Barn Thai: unique experience

by kissgurami Updated Apr 4, 2011

JUST go there for the experience !
one of kind which the restuarant is set in the mangrove. it' takes about 10 mins to walk to the entrance.

we went for dinner hence the walk was a little creepy n adventurous. they serve thai food. the food is kinda way off the usual thai taste so the meal was just to "gain" some time in the unique settings.

try not to have the desserts. had red rubies n assorted kueh n it was hard.

the food is rather expensive so be prepared. especially the wine although it is a "DFS" island.

Dining Del Mar: Don't miss the desserts!

by Kivi Updated Apr 4, 2011

    Restaurant on a beach

Hotel Casa Del Mar's restaurant is a definately worth of visiting. While nightlife in Langkawi is quiet and the main fun is dining, this is the ideal spot.

Wheather you want to dine at beach or a fresco, it's up to you. Palm trees are beautifully lit up and the ambiece in there is the synonyme for romance...

The food is a little bit pricey, but the quality of food and service makes it feel very cheap.

Favorite Dish: Definately try Chef's tasting menu, which is 6 course menu. Everything what I tasted there was excellent. But be careful, you have to have room for desserts also, they are so delicious. Especially "chocolate soft centre"!

    Champor-Champor: Champor-Champor

    Champor-Champor, Langkawi

The first thing that struck me about this restaurant was the name, by virtue of the fact I had eaten at a restaurant in London that goes by the same name shortly before my trip to SE Asia.

It really is something special. The menu is creative, the food exceptionally well prepared and service excellent.

Prices are higher than average but compared to Europe it is a real bargain. I enjoyed my meal here more than at Champor-Champor in London and it was about a sixth of the price.

Favorite Dish: Chicken curry - the house special.

Tomato Nasi Kandar: Good indian Food.

by RakeshKapadnis Written Nov 18, 2010

Tomato Nasi Kandar, (Opposite Langkawi Boutique Hotel). Typical budget Indian food establishment with patrons all day (and night!) long. Very crowded even in the wee hours of the morning. They serve an enormous variety of dishes, from the flavoured roti varieties to naan, briyani and kebabs. The standard is quite high - to an extent where the meal is extremely value-for-money. The only problem is that their waiters are exceedingly bad at taking orders. RM1-3 for roti, RM 4-10 for main dishes. edit

Favorite Dish: Rotis, fish curry, chicken curry, papadams, omlet.

The choice of food in the street cafes along Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah is very wide and of good quality at local prices. The service is excellent and friendly and if they are not licensed they will run and get you a Tiger Beer to put under your table and occasionally pour into your coffee mug!

This is a mobile food stall on a van. Basically you get your food from the van, pay & eat at the table & benches set up. While eating, watch the sun sets & aeroplane flying.

Be caution on the food preparation & hygiene as there is no tap water supply. Though the food is yummy & cheap.

Favorite Dish: Laksa Power (with hard-boiled egg), Cendol pulut & Rojak

Papa Restaurant: Try some delicious kebabs

Perhaps you will get bored from eating seafood and local cuisine, what can you try in Langkawi? What about some delicious kebabs prepared from special Australian meat? The owner who also prepares the meals by himself is from Iran. I was very satisfied with the taste and the quality of the meat. Although there wasn't much side dish except basmati rice and some grilled tomatoes, the simplicity and the taste wonmy heart. If you are a meat lover and fond of kebabs, give a try here.

Favorite Dish: Lamb minced meat kebab
