Starts punctually at 10am and returns at about 430pm. Local lunch is served on board this beautiful 40 foot catamaran.
Fun begins when you get into the water for a refreshing swim. There will be a stop to do some kayaking too.

by Gyppo Written Jan 14, 2015

Just around the corner from the ferry terminal is Eagle Square. There are a few souvenir shops and restaurants, but the main attraction is the big statue of the bird Langkawi is said to derive its name from (helang = eagle). It's an impressive sight.

    Langkawi Beaches compared to Boracay

by machomikemd Written Jun 16, 2014

Pulau Langkawi beaches are both good and panoramic and the best beach in Langkawi they say is the Pantai Cenang which is less congested and is powdery white sands but the boracay beach in Aklan philippines definitely better in beach quality and the type of powdery white sands and there are no large waves pounding the shore and definitely no rip tides that are prevalent in the Andaman Sea (of which both phuket in thailand and Langkawi in Malaysia beaches faced) The only downside in the boracay beaches is that the airport nearby is so small that only turbo prop planes are available for take offs and landings and the nearest international airport in Kalibo is about 2 hours away by road plus a 20 minute boat ride to boracay.

Boracay Beach is voted number best beach island around the world in 2011 and number 6 in 2012 by the sister company of Virtual Tourist, Trip Advisor

The half day tours usually lasts 4 to 5 hours (depending if on a fish farm restaurant lunch and optional swimming at Tanjung Rhu, and if going to the hidden lake and more caves, or without these extras) and tour costs vary from 100 RM for just the mangrove tour w/o fish farm restaurant lunch and swimming at tanjung rhu and up to 175 RM to 200 RM per person if those extras I mentioned above are included. and there are two starting points for the tours, Most start at the Kilim Jetty (on the back road beside the Galleria Perdana) or along the jetty in Tanjung Rhu.

Travel time from Pantai Cenang Hotels to Kilim Jetty is about 35 minutes.

tours start at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm daily

Kilim Geoforest Park: Mangroves near Bat Cave

by machomikemd Written Jun 11, 2014

this will be the tips on Mangrove walking near the Bat Cave

located near the Kilim Jetty, the Gua Kelawar (Bat Cave) is located about 400 meter south of it where there is a wooden jetty for boats to dock and from the jetty, you will walk along the alternate wooden & concrete foothpaths to the mangroves to see various animals living in the mangroves like various species of mud crabs, fishes, monitor lizards and the pesky monkeys! there are also prehistoric limestone formations with markers and the living fossil, the cycad, which is more then 200 million years old and grows in limestone clifs.

Kilim Geoforest Park: Sea Eagle Feeding

by machomikemd Updated Jun 11, 2014

the main draw of the island is the Sea Eagle Feeding as the name Langkawi is from Helang in Malay means Eagle and Kawi is reddish brown color. Most of the sea eagles you see here are the reddish brown type and some larger whitish brown type.

If you have not booked the Island Hopping tour where there is also sea eagle feeding at Pulau Singa Besar, then you can see it here at the Kilim Mangrove Tour. if you booked both tours like us, you would see that they have more species of sea eagle feeding in the pulau singa besar than here in the kilim mangrove geopark. the eagles here are bigger and there are many species, and the boatmen of the tour boats put scraps of chicken skin in the water and then stop the engines and then you can see the various sea eagles swooping down to grab the meat scraps.

what a wonderful sight to see!

see my videos of it too.

    Swim at Pantai Tengah

by machomikemd Written Jun 11, 2014

We have to swim at the second beach destination of langkawi as it is where our hotel is located and is where there are less crowds and more privacy as compared to pantai cenang, in fact, we swam more times here than Pantai Cenang.

If you are like my wolfpac, which is dedicated to visit various beaches around south east asia and more, your main reason of going to langkawi is to compare the beaches of Langkawi to other Asian Beaches and to swim, all others like the sky cab and underwater world and more are just secondary!

And Pantai Tengah as a beach destination is even better than Pantai Tegnah as it is less crowded and more privacy, plus you can use the cabanas and beach beds of your hotel which is just in front of the beach. But like in Pantai Cenang, the only drawback is the so so nightlife here!
