Crocodile Farm - Langkawi, Malaysia

The crocodile farm is situated in Datai Bay, just 30km away from Kuah. The farm harvest crocodiles for their skin for leather products.
Impressive collection of over 3000 crocodiles as they said during our visit.
Crocodile shows were at 11:15 and 14:45 while feeding time was around 10:30.
You can also take photo holding stuffed baby crocodiles from the souvenir shop.

Islands Hopping: Dayang Bunting Island/Lake

Dayang Bunting Island, Langkawi

The boat would continue cruising around Islands and stopped at the last island, Bayang Bunting Island. It is the largest island in Langkawi. The boat would stop at southwest of the Island. When we reached the Island, we started walking into the Island, passing by a forest with wild animals. We climbed a hill with steps, and walked down a hill with step, then see the Dayang Bunting Lake. Dayang Bunting Lake is a fresh water lake hided behind two hills of Dayang Island. Visitors swims in the lake with spectacular views. You can rent a paddle boat to cruise around the lake.

Must see this beautiful views of Langkawi!!

ASTHAR TRAVEL & TOURS, Langkawi

There are many tour agencies offer ISLANDS HOPPING package. I am lucky enough to see this agency offer incredible price for this package. It only costs RM25 per person for 4 hours trip. It runs two times a day, 9:30am and 2:30pm.

ASTHAR TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD
Pantai Cenang, 0700 Langkawi

Their office is next to AB Motel at Pantai Cenang. So far, I am quite satisfy with their services, and I find them quite reliable tour company in Langkawi.

ISLAND HOPPING (Boat trips to the 3 famous Islands)

1) Beras Basah Island
2) Singa Besar Island ( Eagle Feeding)
3) Dayang Bunting Island/ Dayang Bunting Lake
4) Passing by Lake of Pregnant Maiden Island.

They pick you up in their agency office, address above, then drive you to the Jalan Pantai Ferry to get on the boat.

Value for money... must do this while you are in Langkawi....

After the Beras Basah Island, the boat would continue to cruise around Singa Besar Island. Then, the boat stopped on the east side of the island to see the eagles flying around. There are many eagles in the area. If you have food especially meat, you can feed them and see them closely.

Beras Basah Island, Langkawi

Beras Basah Island is our first stop for the islands hopping. This is a beautiful white sand beach island with coconut trees. There are many wild monkeys scatter around the Island. Visitors love to swim in this beach because the water is clean and not much of wave. The mountains view from the beach is stunning. There is a guesthouse with traditional Malay "kampung" style architecture, unique but old and not well maintenance.

This beach is perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Mangrove Tour at the Tanjung Rhu Resort

Mangrove tour, Tanjung Rhu Resort

You don't have to be a hotel guest to take this tour.

We chose the 3.5 hour mangrove nature tour by boat. There is also a 2 hour tour. As it happened, we were the only ones that day so it ended up being a private tour, but the boats are small and look like they can only take a group of maybe eight. Zoher the guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his work, and kept us entertained with little quizzes and trivia. The boat is covered enough to keep the sun off and most of the rain, but not all. It rained buckets halfway through our tour, but it was quite interesting to be sitting in a boat in the middle of mangrove jungle in the rain and furthermore quite refreshing. We saw Mud Skipper fish walking on mud, many monkeys very close to the boat, eagles feeding, kites, a viper snake, and a pair of otters. We took the boat through one cave and walked through another among roughly 700 bats sleeping. We stopped at a fish-farm converted to tourism demonstrations and saw and touched many crabs, rays, and fish. We were spat at by an Archery fish a metre away. Even my wife, who initially had no interest in this tour whatsoever, enjoyed herself and admitted that she was glad she came.

Bookings are made through the hotel, but Zoher has given me permission to include his personal contact details: Zoher Mustan, naturewala@gmail.com. Hotel contact details are below. They usually also take bookings from top-end hotels in the area, such as Four Seasons and The Westin.

It's not cheap: US $74 each, half price for children. We had an amazing experience, though; I thought it was well worth it.

Friendly Welcome

Langkawi is more of a rest & relax zone. If you are dreaming to get busy and see places in Langkawi, don't bother....go to a nice big city instead. But If you ever choose to go to Langkawi, don't miss this for sure. Ishan Malaysian Spa is hidden in the rainforest, in the hilly terrain, overlooking the Andaman Sea.

The products used here are fresh produce done on day to day basis out of fresh herbs, fragrant flowers & aromatic roots. We saw dusk leaves monkeys, long tail macaques, giant squirrels, hornbills and a few colourful birds that we don't the names.

The architecture here is very rustic & typical traditional malay houses concept that is unlike any other spas that we have been too. And trust us, we have been to many. The staffs here are local Malay girls and speaks little English. They are very curtious & very experienced.

Thsi is a must try in Langkawi & I am coming back soon....

The float is a traditional Malay bridge, which is part of The Westin Langkawi. The bridge is built to let you get closer to the ocean with fantastic views of the area. You can overlook the whole resort as well.

This is a great place to stop by if you are a photographer as the bridge will give you a unique Malay traditional characteristics of the Island.

Tanjung Rhu Beach, Langkawi

Tanjung Rhu Beach is located northeast of Langkawi. It is a white sandy beach together with several small islands views. Tanjung Rhu Resort is the only accommodation on this beach. It is very luxury, you can choose to have the room to view the beach with those small islands or the forest's views room.

There is the " Mangrove Tour Boat Charter" near the beach. You can book for a tour or a boat to cruise the river nearby.
