There is only one mode of transport on the island apart from hire car or hire motorcycle -Taxi's! Considering that Langkawi is a larger island than Penang taxi's are really cheap. From Pentang tengah to Kuah it is only 20 rinjit. To hire a taxi for a block of hours is easy 4 -5 hours cost me 100 rinjit, this gave me the freedom to do a drop off at the airport to exchange money then another drop off to do some shopping then another drop off to oriental village get the picture......Try doing that in New York Theme: Other

You can rent a taxi for the day or for a tour of 3 to 4 hours for about RM60 to RM80 depending on where you are staying. You do not have to go where the taxi driver wants to take you, I told the driver where I wanted to go and he waited for me when I had lunch at the Andaman. I went to see the Temurun waterfall (not very interesting) and he also waited until I took some pictures there and in Burau Bay. Now beware of cows when driving at night. I had an accident on the way to the Tanjung Rhu Resort, the driver wasn't going very fast thank God and couldn't have foreseen that a cow would just jump onto the middle of the street. It virtually came out of nowhere. Unfortunately we hit the cow and I think it was dead, I can assure it was in much worse state than me, I only had a small bump against the door. The driver managed to control the vehicle and called another taxi to take me to my destination for free. I did not have to pay for this trip from Pantai Cenang to Tanjung Rhu. This is common practice, if you are unfortunate to have an accident and need medical attention the taxi driver normally will call another car to take you to the doctor or hospital. Anyway I was fine although a bit shaken, it's not every day we kill a cow. Now the food at the restaurant as I mentioned was more upsetting than the accident itself. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Air Asia is the cheapest flight flying to Langkawi. It's quick and convenient. Getting there wouldn't be a stress at all. Anyone can go visiting Langkawi via air or sea or even land by vehicle. 1. By Flight - Air Asia flying daily from LCCT to Langkawi 2. By Ferry - via Penang, Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis. And of course there are ferry plying to international waters, Thailand too. 3. By Land - via Kuala Kedah. Where your car can be unloaded in the ferry to Langkawi. Alike what's been carrying out in Penang to Butterworth and vice versa. For getting round Pulau Langkawi, the convenient way is by hiring a car or motorbike. The rental there is quite cheap cos' it's a duty free island, that included duty free vehicles. But you can also hire a taxi together with the driver to take you round the island with a discuss rate on per day basis. As for going through the surrounding islands of Langkawi, they have organised trips to take you there if you required. You can book your trip through the travel agent or the hotel counter, even on your arrival at the airport. Theme: Airplane

To get to Langkawi, you either can take Bus or Train to Alor Star from Kuala Lumpur. The bus trip gonna take you about 6 to 7 hours from Kuala Lumpur, and been advice to take night bus, or night train, so you can get to the distination early in the morning. Once you reach to Alor Star bus station, you should get a taxi to get you to the jetty at Kuala Kedah. If you take a bus to Kuala Kangsar, you should do the same thing as taking bus to Kedah. If you taking bus to Kuala Perlis, the trip from the jetty is very near to Langkawi Island, it only take you about 45 mins rather than take a boat from Kuala Kedah. Bus Station:- Kuala Lumpur - Pudu Raya Kedah - Alor Star Perlis - Kuala Perlis Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Our MPV, Nissan Serena by dfactor We rented a MPV to tour around the island. Cost us about RM125 a day. I enjoyed driving around the island, it's peaceful and the roads are flanked with forest on both sides. The road cut through paddy fields and some raods are just meters away from the sea.
